Lovely Shelby

I see you through the two-paned window

Trapped, shielded by ice

You don’t match impressions from that day long ago

But I still recognize your eyes

You stand and defend like a statue

That man and all his lies

You laugh to seem happy

But desperation is what truly drives

His love was a comfortable routine

But you were to naïve to see

For my life I never trusted him

You remember? You made me leave.

But to the girl I love I must always be true

He blinded you with his kiss

You were my girl before you met him

It’s with me you truly fit

I contemplate stopping and chatting

But I know he wouldn’t like it

So I’ll sit until snow encloses me

And he leaves you worried and crying

I’ll be the girl you confide in

The one who will share all your dreams

You’ll see only I really loved you

Daniel fooled you to believe

I’d give you the sky and beyond

Anything, no matter if it means my demise

Make you the Queen of the Stars

You are all that and more in my eyes

When he leaves you at the alter

On the day that you turn eighteen

Seek me out, you can cry on my shoulder

Hope I’ll still be waiting

I bet as we speak he’s inside you

As I’m screaming myself to sleep

Oh, I wish you were still my innocent

Experiment

My Lovely Shelby.
