Prologue

Jules

It was freezing, the rain water on the cars was turning to frost but Jules wasn’t cold. Jules was never cold. He stood under a street lamp thinking about the night ahead, The boys had been working over time recently and tonight was chance to blow off some steam. If he was honest though Jules loved his job. He was different man now he was free to be what he wanted. Not like before when he was so constricted, now he was free to do what ever the hell he felt like.

The door opened behind him and he turned to watch her. She was in her late twenties and pretty in a very classy kind of way, just the sort of woman who would have never given him a second look before he changed. She hadn’t noticed him yet and he enjoyed watching. She moved so gracefully on her high heels and looked so pretty in her little black dress and pea coat. The guys she was going to meet would be missing out tonight.

Jules decided to make him self known. He walked behind her when she made it off her stoop and onto the pavement. He followed her for a few minutes until she opposite the alley, gave one last glance around to make sure the coast was clear and then spoke.

“Excuse me. Do you have the time?”

The woman turned and caught his eyes.

“I… uh… what.”

He held her gaze but continued talking.

“I was just asking the time but you don’t have a watch. A good idea would act as an advertisement to muggers. What’s your name?”

“Sarah.” her eyes where starting to glaze over a good sign for Jules he maintained the eye contact and took a step closer.

“Sarah.” He said he name thoughtfully.

“Now that is a pretty name. I am sure a pretty woman like yourself has somewhere important to be on a Saturday night, but there is something I was hoping to show you. Would that be alright?”

She just giggled and nodded. It was almost too easy these days, he led he down the alley.

Ten minutes later and feeling a little less hungry Jules set off for his own date. He had a feeling that Sarah wouldn’t make hers.
