me and you, cosmic buddies,
walking to buy weed, i say, "the sky is blue."

you condescend to me, and i stop walking, to say,
"no, listen to me. the sky is blue. what do you think the sky looks like on neptune?"

i know you don't know, so i say,
"exactly, neptunian skies could be as purple as those azaleas over there or as orange mac and cheese vomit,
and our skies just happen to be blue."

you look up at the sky, and i see clouds drift across your retinas, you say,
"...the sky is blue."

i smile,
"the sky is blue."

an: blue lips, blue veins, blue, the color of our planet from far, far away.
