I meant no harm
when I told him he was a mirage;
one of the many I was chasing
in hope of finding something real.

Maybe it was a compliment;
my way of saying I saw a glimmer of who he was,
something to follow,
I wanted more.

Maybe I meant to offend him;
my way of saying he wasn't what I wanted,
wasn't worth believing,
I needed proof.

Either way,
I'm still dehydrated.
