I wrote this about my best friend:

If I am ever to fly a plane,

If I ever roam heaven's fields,

In the search of divine answers,

Hoping that's what God yields,

And in the thrill of cloud and height,

I forget my common sense,

And in the beautiful chaos,

I am rendered dense.

If my engine sputters,

My compass is lost in a whirl,

I will hope God notifies his angels,

And believe I hear their wings unfurl.

As my altitude drops,

And cloud and height pass me by,

I hurtle towards a greedy earth,

But it isn't to God I cry.

In my moment of fright,

In my terror and despair,

Of knowing hell is licking its lips,

It isn't to God I send my prayer.

If I am ever to fly a plane,

And I loose my control and my calm,

I know just who will save me,

For my copilot is my mom.
