Spinning the Same Way Epilogue: Together
- RENT 'Another Day'
It was a time for celebration. The closing ceremony was drawing to an end and the IOC president was calling upon the youth of the world to assemble four years from now in Sochi, Russia to compete in the 2014 Winter Games and the twenty-second Olympiad. While he was making that speech, Alyssa turned to her partner and fiancée Liam.
"You know I was thinking," she began loudly so she could be heard. "Four years isn't such a long time."
Liam looked down at his wife-to-be. "What do you mean?"
"I mean I want to show the world that we're the best," she paused and glanced down at her gold medal which was hanging around both their necks. "This is a great start my love, but don't get me wrong I always despised skaters and athletes in general who did well at the games and then disappeared."
"So you want to continue then?"
"For as long as my body holds out," she stated. "I can't make any promises."
Liam smiled. "Don't make promises that you'll regret."
"I'll only regret not trying," Alyssa assured.
"So we try." Liam stated with a smile. "We'll try our best."
"Together," Alyssa added.
Liam nodded. "Together."
-THE END-
---
ENDNOTE: Liam and Alyssa skated for the next four years. They won every ISU World Championship in those four years and ever competition in between, including the 2014 Olympic Gold Medal in Sochi, Russia. They married, had a baby, skated on tour before finally opening up their own skating rink where they trained future Canadian Champions.

Author's Note: To get a story done is something magical. I started this story back in 2008 after Team Canada's amazing performance at the ISU World Figure Skating Championship in Sweden. Jeffery Buttle won the gold, Tessa and Scott got silver while Jessica and Bryce won bronze. I set out to write my own equivalent of 'The Cutting Edge' only with more reality in it—story however seems to have won out. I certainly enjoyed writing this story, it's changed a lot from that early incarnation but it's done now—and I hope that you all enjoyed reading it as much as I enjoyed writing it. Thank you for being a part of this journey with me.
