The Closing

With a new year comes new resolutions, new friends, new problems, and new realizations about ourselves. With a new year comes a new story. A new adventure.

And, although this journal will be put aside after this last entry, a new one will take its place. Just like Evan said, my story's not over yet. The worst has yet to come for Alyx and I. Will we be able to overcome what life has in store for us? Will we stay together forever? Or will something eventually tear us apart one day? Would I be able to handle our separation, or would destroy me?

I can't be sure of any of these things. I can only live my life and take on the events as they come at me. I just have to remember- I'm not alone. Not with a girlfriend like Alyx, or a great friend like Evan. With them around, I feel like I can get through anything.

I just hope that one day I can look back at these words when I'm down and be lifted up from whatever slump that has taken over me.

I can only wish for this journal to have such a great effect. And I can only hope that, in the end, these writings are more than simple words, and these aren't just the confessions of a dying spirit.
