Chapter One

Alice and the doorknob.

Alice: I simply must get through!
Doorknob: Sorry, you're much too big. Simply impassible.
Alice: You mean impossible?
Doorknob:No, impassible. Nothing's impossible.

The roads were lonely and no seemed to be around. She should have guessed that, since it was striking two in the morning. It didn't help that it was still raining either. She had walked a mile and a half from her old flat. Trying to find somewhere to go, trying to get out of the miserable city, she once loved. Her last pair of high heels that she was wearing happened to be torn too, and her long black jacket seemed to be soaked up from the rain. She knew she wouldn't have been in this mess is she had just listened to her parents. They told her not to face the world out there on her own so quick. So what did she do? She walked out of there, leading a life on her own, that she wanted to explore. Stupid girl- she knew she was.

The rain began to stop a little, and her eyes had blurred up. She was getting tired. Rubbing away the sleep from her chocolate orbs, she decided to sit on the bench, which was up on a narrow road. There, she closed her eyes and decided to count sheep up to a hundred in her head, to make her fall asleep.

She felt herself going into a deep sleep. Where she dreamed she was safe, where she felt safe. She could see herself and her family all sitting around the dinner table enjoying a meal together. Her sister Jem and she would talk about the latest fashion, while her Dad would talk about some bazaar joke, while her mother would make the beautiful food, just the way it was supposed to be. The dream was perfect, except it didn't last long she felt herself slipping from the dream, hearing someone waking her up.

"Excuse me, excuse me.'' Opening her eyes, she noticed she was just dreaming. She lived in this reality. Gazing above her, she noticed a woman standing in front of her body, looking slightly disapproved by her lying on the bench.

"Yeah?'' Brooke asked, not really interested in what the woman had to say to her.

"Could you get up from the bench and let other people sit down. I find it rather rude and inappropriate for you to lie down on a bench,'' the snobby woman said, pulling her grey hair back behind her ears. Pencil skirt and grey Armani jacket, this woman was definitely the bee's knees- rich snob.

"Of course, your majesty,'' she mumbled the last part. Rolling her eyes, she got up from the bench, and decided to take off to somewhere else. Looking at her watch it was only three in the morning, she had no clue to why that woman would want to sit down on a bench at three in the morning. She had an explanation to why she was lying there, but that woman had no reason. Brooke only got so far when she decided to put her hand out for a car coming past, the first completely ignored her and carried on driving but the second car slowed down in front of her. The car was the new Mercedes Benz, and every inch of the car was shiny clean and in top condition. Peeking her head through the car, the window began to pull down and the person inside cleared there throat.

"Hey, I need a ride, can I tag along?'' Brooke pleaded. The driver of the car took some time to answer as though they were thinking on whether they should take her not.

"Sure, hop on in,'' the voice was husky, and deep. It was most certainly a male, definitely a male. Climbing in the car, she was hoping the ride wouldn't create such a fuss. What she didn't know though was that this moment in time would change her history forever.

Authors Note: So yes, short, but I loved it. If I must say so myself. But again, they will get longer, but this I just liked this chapter short. I'm trying to update my stories as much as possibly so bare with me. I do not know what I'm updating yet, because my mind keeps changing so just be on the look out for that.
