Living ghosts,
Dead but alive.
Every man, woman, child
None spared.
Illusions of lives lost,
Overcast with the clouds of war and hatred.
Beaten and abused by tyranny.
The only light they can see,
In their dark and dismal camp,
Are the raging fires,
Burning companions' bodies.

Shadows smother them
Until they are
Skeletons of the people they once were,
Or could have been.
Every child, woman, man
Ghosts of the living.
