Chapter 9

Revelations set in

As the two of us lay there in his pallet after finishing our AP Bio work, I could not even sleep due to all the things running through my mind. What had hit me hardest though, that would be the training to become what they called me. I had a hard time imagining myself fighting with those swords or daggers of Lume's, let alone doing some of the intricate steps the other girl had done that night.

In essence, I was afraid, afraid of everything Tristan had told me; afraid of my destiny, afraid of what I would eventually face, even if I did not know what was coming. In those moments, I was more afraid then I was to be later on. The question was, WHY? Why was I afraid? I have concluded that my sacredness came from how LIGHTLY Tristan told me these things, as if it would all be all right, as if they were not things that scared the shit out of me.

I should have been relaxed, as I was when he first told me, but my mind just rambled on and on, thinking up millions of possibilities. I should have been at peace in his arms, and lightly snoring as he was. But I wasn't, until I felt his arms wrap around me.

"Isa', it is all going to be fine," he said, placing a kiss on my cheek and wrapping his arms tightly around me.

"I know, but I cannot stop thinking about all the things you told me, my brain won't quiet down." I replied.

"Shh, everything really will be fine, do not worry about it, and let me do the worrying when it is time. You just sleep, sleep and let me worry," he said, pulling her even closer into his warm embrace.

When I woke up, at first I was in a state of shock. I, Isa', had gone to sleep and stayed asleep for the first time in nearing six months. Not only that, but I wasn't even in my own home, I was in a GUY's house! When I turned over and looked beside myself, my breath caught in my throat. There he was, his dark hair covering his face, and curled in a tight ball beside me. I looked at the time on my watch, it was 6:10, and definitely time to wake up if we wanted to get to school on time. When I looked up from my watch, he was standing in front of me, holding out his hand for me to take, and just like as if we had done this a million times, I placed my hand in his and proceeded to his bathroom while he headed towards his fire. Everything was so.. DIFFERENT, as if in one night my whole life had changed, but in truth it had. Now I knew who he was, what he was here for, and that I, I had a purpose in life other than to get good grades. I, Isa', had to become the savior of my home and fill immeasurably great shoes and lead my own country and eventually the world.

I looked at myself in the mirror, I did not look different, (besides for rumpled from sleep). I still looked like old Isa, with my violet eyes, long raven hair, and dark skin. My violet shirt was horribly rinkled and my skirt looked no better. "How am I going to fix this?" I asked myself. I ended up doing the only thing I could think of, I stripped and placed my rumbled clothing stretched over the towel holders, and proceeded to turn the shower on to its highest heat and fill the room with steam. This was a strange technique I had learned from my Aunty, (my father's sister) who taught me not only how to care for clothing, but to cook. After about five minutes of steaming, I stretched the clothing out and folded it, and then took my actual shower.

When I got out, I quickly changed into my uniform and walked out into the main room. The pallet was folded and placed in what looked to be a cupboard and the scent of rice and eggs permeated the air. It seemed to filter through my nose, leaving my stomach in agony.

"Isa'," said Tristan, who looked up from the food he had prepared. She looked as if she had never even slept, her hair was somehow smooth, and her skirt and top seemed as though they had recently been washed. He wasn't stupid though, he had heard the water running, so he knew she had showered, but how had she gotten her clothes this way? His questions flew from his head as she approached him quickly and wrapped her arms around him. "Mmm, that smells amazing Tristan," she said, as bright smile on her face.

"Well, you have not eaten since yester noon, so I figured I would make us breakfast before we left," he whispered.

"Well, let's eat," she said, grabbing one of the bowls with a set of chop-sticks. She proceeded to finish her breakfast, let him change, and then after gathering her work into her satchel, they left for school.

As they walked through the door of their school, both Isa' and Tristan were a bit wary. The evening had been long, and the day to come seemed as though it was going to be quite drawn out, what with the fact that they both shared such a huge secret and were not going to be able to talk about it ALL DAY, plus the fact that Tristan was walking in with the one girl that almost ninety nine percent of the guys watched, and he was the guy that no one noticed. But what truly had Tristan worried, was the fact of how comfortable and at ease the girl was around him, and that he KNEW that it would be impossible for these ignorant humans to not notice the difference. They would notice that she was like this disguised sheep, and the sooner they did, the harder it would get for Isa' to keep attending school. It was only her first few weeks of school and already the girl was about to be ripped from her new life and put in her REAL life. The problem was, HOW, how was he going to get her back to Diamanti for good, was It even possible, and where was her father? All of these thoughts passed through his mind as they walked through the door, and as every face in the school seemed to turn and place its dull eyes on them.

As we walked in the door, all of the student's eyes seemed to turn toward us and fire flamed from them. It was if they were trying to ask me what in hell I was doing with that THING, why he was with me, and why had we showed up in the same vehicle.

The part that scared me, was that HE was not surprised, his face was almost smiling with a small smirk, as his arm latched to mine and he pulled us towards our first class of the day. As he pulled me along, the dark orbs of the student's eyes seemed to follow me as they glared holes in my body.

Both Tristan and Isa', somehow were able to make it through the day, even with the intense stares, which eventually turned back to blissful ignorance.

The two were finally on their way back to Isa's house, where they were going to have a sparring session before her father got home, which she wasn't as quite excited about. But still, the training would be hard, but fun, just because they were together.
