He breathes sorrow that melts over his furnace
Into crystalline cranberry swans
Caged within a hall of mirrors
Rewarded with sweeping glances
Of the callous aristocracy
And silver-tongued flattery
Inhuman brothers bear the lifeblood
Of a thousand cowards
Who exhibit maroon velvet
To hid trembling hearts.
And the maiden with inky eyes
Snaps his neck like a wineglass stem
Bleeding garnet.
On a moonless night by the canal.
