When my mom dropped me off at that school, I knew I wouldn't fit in.

I sensed it I felt it, not like wind, but like a punch in the face that I expected before it happened-so more like when you do something bad and , and you know you're going to get a spanking from your mom- you see it coming, but you couldn't stop it.

"It's gonna be okay dear. We're going to be okay. You are gonna love this place! It's beautiful! I mean you must be tired of small towns filled with nothing but grass and trees, right?" I knew that-when my mom was saying those woods- she was trying to convince herself, too. But she was wrong, and we both knew it. We loved small towns, the feeling of protecting trees, the clouds giving you a bit nature hug.

I guess I saw this one coming, though. When I overheard my mom yelling and screaming at my father. She was as mad as ever! I still recall the memory-- the one thing I want to forget, but I'm forced to remember...

"What the hell are you doing here, Michael? I'm pretty damn sure I told you to never enter y house, you mutt!" My mother had yelled viciously.

"Calm down Annie! I came to see Kelsey and Becky, y'know my kids!" My dad then laughed

But I did not get the joke.

"My name is Eva; don't ever call me Annie again. It's E-V-A or did you forget that too huh? I can't believe you have the guts to...i...i hate you so much Micheal" as she had said this, I could just picture her face; she was furouis!

I was so sure my dad had nothing to say, because it took him a long time before answering:

"Listen Eva, I know that we have our separate lives, but you left me so I moved on. I guess I'm sorry, but Kelsey and Rebecca...they're my kids too..."

Then my mother dropped the big bomb.

"Well, good for you...but, too bad, 'cause...we're moving! In two weeks!"

"Rebecca are you even listening to me?" My mom groaned bringing me back to the present.

"Sorry mom...what did you say?" I replied absently.

"Never mind. We're here."

I gulped.

This was it. Deep breaths Rebecca, deep breaths.

I then broke into a random laughter remembering the time when Vanessa had told me the exact same thing.

"Listen B" she had said sternly. "You were Queen her, you are bound to be one there, right? Just like...relax."

I hope she's right. I just need to be confident.

"Okay. Bye baby. I love you sweetie" my mom said, and then gave me the tightest hug. But I had to act tough, and I had to start now.

"Whatever mom. I'll fir right in. I mean look at me!" She smiled, shaking her head at my false confidence. I guess I wasn't fooling her.

Just then the ball rang, and I had to get going. Here I come school.

---

I had English first, and was glad to start my day with such a wonderful subject. When I walked in I already liked the teacher because she didn't make such a big introduction about me, yet she didn't just completely ignore me.

"Class, settle down!" she said loudly. "We have a new student!" She then asked in a gentle whisper as if not to scare me. "I'm sorry dear, what's your name?"

I cleared my throat preparing for a response. However, just as I was about to speak, someone rudely interrupted me saying, "Alright, honey. We don't have all day and some of us have lives." At her cruel interruption, her cold fiends erupted with laughter.

I quickly had to think of something to seem cool so I replied with "and I guess some of us have no manners, you stupid b-"

"Okay ladies," The teacher hesitantly cut in "I'd hate to have my class become nine-oh-two-one-oh so let's settle down and take a seat."

I went to sit near the window on the left side of the room. No one else sat there.

The teacher then introduced me.

"Hello class! That's Rebecca-she's our new student, by the way" everyone laughed. I guess they liked her and I guess she was sort of beautiful.

Nah. Actually she was...hot, she looked young about 25 or 26 and she was really pretty. The kind of woman you want to look like when you're older.

"I am " she wrote her name on the board. "Now, I am going to need someone to help Rebecca around and I-" just then someone entered the class.

"Sorry I'm late, . I slept in...I am so sorry." she said nervously. She was dazzling and the teacher looked nothing compared to her. She was so small but yet curvy and was wearing long black gloves even thought it was unbelievably hot outside. She had on a lovely short trendy summer dress and White High Heels. Her long black hair was tied into a ponytail.

"Thank-you for joining us Miss Sector, and since you decided to come late, you will show Rebecca," she pointed to me "around. Have a seat."

She sat right beside me and then asked.

"May we trade spots? I prefer the window seat." She smiled.

"S-Sure." We traded spots.

"I'm Tannen, by the way." She offered her hand and I shook it.

"You can call me Becca."

"Alright, Becca. You can just call me Tannen." She shrugged and smiled at me, and I smiled back.

The rest of English class went by quickly, and when the bell rang asked me and Tannen to stay.

"Yes Miss?" said Tannen.

"Alright, so I want you to help Rebecca around as well as with the previous work she missed, which is quite a lot considering the fact that we are in June" she look at me and smiled. "Bat time to move, huh, Rebecca?"

"Yeah, I guess so." was all I said.

"Alright ladies," she clapped her hands together "help each other out. Now shoo, get to class."

--

Tannen was walking me to my next class which was chemistry in room 306, and she had gym all the way down to the first floor. I felt awful; she was going to be late...again.

"Don't worry about it," she said as I told her how bad I felt. "I'll get to gym in no time." She then laughed as if enjoying a personal joke.

"Okay..." I replied annoyingly. AS me being the curious person I am I asked about her weird gloves mentioning how hot it was? When she didn't say anything I felt icky.

"I mean...I'm sorry it's just t-"

"Don't worry, it is kind of odd. I guess it's sort of my swag." She shrugged.

I thought it was kind of odd, but I think it would be rude, so I didn't mention it again. She led me to my science class and left, that's when I realized I forgot to ask if we had any classes together, and I really hope we do.

When I entered, I already hate the class. The teacher made such a BIG introduction.

"OH, hello! Miss" he looked over his paper "Miss Mendez or do you prefer Ellis-Mendez"

"Ellis-Mendez or just Rebecca would be fine though" I said embarrass. He then laughed a throaty laugh.

"Rebecca it is. Class this is Rebecca Ellis-Mendez! Let's welcome her in. Shall we start with you Austin?" Oh God no, I thought nervously.

"Sir, do I take a seat?"

"Oh no darling call me Mr. Harper and not all that sir crap." He said gently in a lower voice, trying too hard to be nice but not answering my question.

"Let's all go around and introduce ourselves, okay?" he said and my palms were sweating, this was so embarrassing!

A boy with long blond hair stood up. "Hey there baby I'm Austin" he said winking. Everyone laughed making it clear he was the class clown.

It felt kind of awkward that people were going around saying their names but it did help knowing them better even though I only paid attention to certain people. Like this tiny girl with short brown hair was very shy and her name was April, she looked terrified of the walls. This one guy looked as high as the sky, I should probably get someone to tell him to lay off the weed. I think his name was Peter or Paul or something like that...

"Jared O'Connor, wake up! Somebody wake him up!" I heard the teacher yell grabbing my attention, that name sounded so familiar.

"Yo don't freaking touch me." Jared said pushing a guy aside. "I'm Jared, now let's move on."

The next guy was Nick Sector who I guess was related to Tannen.

"Mr. Sector, I hope this is the last time I have to tell you to REMOVE YOUR SUNGLASSES IN MY CLASSROOM!" growled Mr. Harper angrily.

"I told you sir; I have an eye problem thing." Nick muttered defensively.

"Where's your doctor's note? At home again?" screeched the teacher angrily.

"My mom's a doc can't she just give you a note?"

"Is she your doctor? I didn't think so. Glasses off Mr. Sector NOW!" Nick finally removed his dark tinted glasses and that's when I saw them; the most beautiful eyes my eyes had ever looked at.

They weren't small or big but just the right size, and the colour, oh those greenish brown eyes made me feel like looking at them forever. Like I could tell him everything, see everything; my past, my future then I got slapped into the present.

"Miss Mendez, have a seat next to Mr. Sector please. He will be your partner. Which makes you Nicholas responsible for helping her and maybe that'll teach you some responsibility..." Then I zoned out since he just started to talk about irresponsible Nick Sector was and I went to take my assigned sit beside him.

"Hello," he started to say "I'm Nick Sector obviously and you must be Rebecca Ellis-Mendez." He smiled.

"Just Becca will be fine, thanks" and I smiled back.

Nick and I had to do a lot of partnering work and so I got to know a lot of things about him like that; he was really nice, his favourite colour's blue and not just any blue, but blue foncé-oh I also learned he was French. He prefers Chinese food over McDonalds-but who doesn't-so he's a pretty cool guy but he seemed to avoid looking into my eyes. I know that seems random but it's true.

"The bell's going to ring soon; do you want m to walk you to your next class?" Nick asked and I looked at my schedule.

"I have...lunch, how about you?"

"Same here. Shall we?" Then the bell rang. As we walked out of class I almost forgot to ask about Tannen.

Almost.

"Hey Nick...do you know Tannen? Tannen Sector?" I asked nervously not wanting do look dumb if he didn't.

"Yeah, she's my twin sister. Why?" He said calmly and I realized that he put his sunglasses back on.

"Huh really? Well she's my escort."

"And she's right over there." He said pointing to a small figure approaching us.

"Oh, hey Rebecca. I guess you've met my brother." She said annoyingly.

"She goes by Becca actually or even Miss Ellis-Mendez" said Nick jokingly.

I think that joke's bound to get old, but I didn't say anything.

"Hey Tannen. What do you have now?" I asked to break the silence.

"Lunch and so does Nick." She answered absently.

"Yeah. I know isn't that great all three of us, great." I said sarcastically.

They didn't say anything and we walked to lunch quietly.
