Well, I'm usually a fanfiction writer but a few weeks ago I got inspiration for this story and I couldn't keep myself from publishing it do my friend showed me this website. I hope you enjoy :)
Transparent
Reason
I had no idea I'd end up in Nyguyen. If it wasn't for her, my mother, I never even would have in the first place.
Ghosts were an everyday thing for me. They were beautiful in my eyes. They were able to make it through their life successfully. They sometimes just needed a little push to get to the afterlife. Sometimes they would come to me for help, sometimes I needed them.
For two years after I received my 'gift' the only person I told was my best friend Ana. I trusted Ana with my life and beyond. She was my twin and my opposite. My teammate and my enemy. She was everything a best friend should have been. Ana was 5'2" and medium sized when we were in high school. She had a delicate face but strong eyes. Her skin had a natural tan and her eyes were emerald green. Hey thick black hair reached her shoulders and flowed around her face like a frame. She was outspoken often but when she had something important to say, she was heard.
I almost always listened to Ana in high school. The one time I didn't led to the worst mistake of my life.
Ana and I were sitting on the front steps of my high school after school. Ana was quiet and I was lost in my own deep thought. A young girl's spirit named Maggie sat on the steps below us, playing with some pebbles. I stroked her hair tenderly. She had begun following me about a year before and she believed I was her older sister. Her sister was killed by her father two months before she fell to the same fate. She hasn't been able to find her sister's spirit and I assume she won't move on until she does. I didn't mind taking the role as her older sister but today our roles were reversed. She knew what I was planning to do and she was worried beyond belief.
"Eli," Ana called, but I barely noticed. I was stressing myself, "Elizabeth Michelle!" Her voice echoed in my ear. I jumped and Maggie disappeared in fright then reappeared by my side. My eyes met Ana's and her face held the obvious, "I know something's bothering you" look. I sighed and rested my head on Ana's shoulder.
"I need your opinion on something," I said. My annoyingly straight caramel brown hair blew into my face from the winds and Ana moved it behind my ear. I felt her nod so I knew to continue. My chest raised in a long sigh and I stroked Maggie's arm as she leaned against my other side. "I think I'm going to tell my mom about the ghosts." I said. Ana stared at me like she was waiting for the punch line.
"Look Eli, I know your mom is usually understanding but this is the paranormal we're talking about here." She said. I sat up and met her eyes.
"I think I should. I mean, having an adult in the equation could bring tons of help. We could help the ghosts transfer to the afterlife so much easier! And, maybe, we could even find Maggie's sister! A mother's intuition could help us a lot." I said, praying that Ana could see the opportunities my mother could give us if she knew and understood. Her eyes were still skeptical but she nodded.
"I don't completely agree but I guess it is your choice. You're the one who sees them. So, how exactly are you going to tell her?" She said. I shrugged.
"I guess I'll just walk up to her, look her sternly in the eyes, lean close, and whisper, 'I see dead people'." I said giggling. Ana shook her head and smacked my arm.
"Come on El, you're going to need some backup with this." She said. Me and Maggie followed and got in her car. She didn't even notice me open the back seat for Maggie before getting in the seat beside her. She was too comfortable with me. I only wish my mom could have been.
Thank you for reading and I'll be posting chapter 2 soon :-)+~{ Please review! :D
