We've been here before
As we are, and will be
Until time and dust have their way
Recycled faces, convoluted tastes
Are all we claim for our own
Fear and fire
Arrogance and sex
Prolong no oblivion
And stall enlightenment
Humankind, yes
Destructive, racist humankind, perhaps
Will endure
But individuals are doomed
By the very notion that they indeed
Have ever existed
Forever fighting the losing battle
Against the inevitability of pointlessness
History undermines the unique
Our present wars, mere carbon copies
With deadlier stakes
And thicker curtains
To hide our Gods
You will read
You will ignore
This vicious cycle
Even these words
Have been here before.
