Elegy for Nicole
I never imagined
that your bright smile
and sunny personality
would be gone.
You were beautiful,
so much that I wanted
to be beautiful
just like you.
But your life was stolen
in one brief instant
and the beauty that was you
was stolen with it.
I remember well
the visitation and funeral –
so many people in pain;
I was in pain.
You will be missed, Nicole,
and the days and years will pass,
and our pain will diminish,
but my fondness for you shall remain strong.
Rest in the arms of peace
and may the angels care for you
until we meet again
someday.
