because Camille Saint-Saƫns' Le Carnaval des Animaux is amazing, particularly the Aquarium movement.
also, this poem feels like it's not quite finished, but I just keep hitting a mental wall whenever I try to do anything with it. sigh.
Listen, can you hear it?
beautiful, haunting, drawing you in
to a world you can never fully enter.
so I pretend I'm full of mystery and
foreign-accented smiles.
I trill a lilting laugh - soprano and silken,
and shoot you a look with my best
dark-diminuendo eyes;
you stand still, dumb,
unresponsive, and
my allure is all in my head, I suppose.
