Prologue

My Deadly Love

The forrest was dark as a figure ran through the trees. Everything was blurred as the figure ran past the trees and finally ran over the river at the state line. As he turned around another figure appeared. "Why don't you welcome death like the others?" the figure asked.

"I'm not like the others! I value my existance," the first figure answered.

"Why? It's useless and it makes you a parasite. It's disgusting."

"Alyx, you take your work too seriously. I was you boyfriend!"

"That was before I found out, Synn."

Synn sighed and ran in the opposite direction from Alyx.

"I'll see you around!"

Alyx knew she would never see Synn again and made a vow that any and all of her descedents knew that they needed to kill Synn. It was their job to kill vampires.

Chapter 1

One Hundred Years Later

New Prey or New Girlfriend?

Alyxis Barnes walked through the front doors of her new school. It was a big school. There were over 1,000 students in her Senior class alone. There is no way that I am going to remember everybody's name, she thought.

As she walked through the hallway Alyxis failed to notice one person walking directly toward her. Also not looking. Alyxis did notice the other person, however, once they walked into each other. She also noticed that he had fallen on top of her. Alyxis found that she did not like having his hands in her hair. "Are you going to get off me anytime soon?" she asked.

The boy's breath hitched in his throat as she looked him in the eye. Alyxis had icy blue eyes that were surprisingly warm for their color. "You have pretty eyes," the boy said, dreamily as if in a trance.

Alyxis blinked. He thought she had pretty eyes? As she tried to push him off her she noticed the time on his watch. Three. Two. One, she thought.

Alyxis glared at the boy. "Get off me!" she hissed.

The boy nodded and quickly got off her. He reached down help her up but she just brushed his hand away and got up on her own. Without sparing the boy another glance Alyxis grabbed her backpack a headed down the hall.

"Where d'you think your going?"

Alyxis stopped in her tracks and turned around to see a teacher standing right next to the boy, who had an embarrassed look on his face. "I'm going to class," she answered the teacher.

"Not after that display of affection. No, right now you are coming wi-"

"'Display of affection'? I just met the guy. And he fell on me. I was just trying to get him off."

"A likely story."

"She's telling the truth, Mr. Guarigla. I slipped on a piece of paper and I fell on her. I didn't get up right away because her eyes are really pretty and-"

"Alright I get it! It was an acident, but you both have detention for being late for class. Now go! But, first, Zaynn, I need to see you in my office pronto."

The boy, Zaynn, nodded and followed Mr. Guarigla. Instead of waiting too long to get to class I shrugged of the feeling of resentment towards the teacher and quickly hurried to her next class.

"What do you think you were doing?"

Zaynn and Mr. Guarigla were in the latter's office. It was a rather small room for the vice principal, but he seemed content with it. All it had in it was a desk, a chair, and Mr. G's laptop.

"I slipped."

"Are you sure it wasn't more?"

"Dnias, I'm sure. I did, however, found out something interesting."

Dnias looked up. "And this was...?"

"She's an Elemental. A Water Elemental."

"How did you figure that out?"

"Her eyes. They are icy blue but warm and flowing like a brooke. Remember, Dnias, you were the one who taught me to judge a person's element- if they have one- by their eyes."

"Ah, yes. Do you think you can tell what element I have?"

Zaynn nodded. "I can try."

Zaynn looked closely at Dnias' eyes. They're green, he thought. The shade of green that grass is during the first few weeks of spring. He's got to be an Earth Elemental.

"You're an Earth Elemental."

Dnias nodded. "Very good... Synn."

Zaynn smiled at the use of his first name.

It's good to be back.

Alyxis' teacher was not happy. Why you ask? She was mad because Alyxis had been late and had a perfectly good excuse for her to be so. Now the teacher couldn't give her detention. "You realize that you're late don't you, Alyxis?" the teacher asked.

"Yes, Miss Stried," Alyxis answered.

"Good. Oh, by the way in this class you will adress me as Ann."

Alyxis shook her head slightly. A teacher that wants to be called by her first name? she thought.

"Anyway, class. Welcome to first period health class. Or as the other students call it 'Honors Health'. You however will only call it 'First Period Health Class'.

There were scattered answers of "yes ma'am."

"I told you I am to be called Ann!"

Along with a few other people Alyxis rolled her eyes. This is going to be great! she sarcastically told herself.

"Okay, so we're going to be talking about good nutrition this semester."

Everybody in the class groaned at the same time. Ann just shook her had and opened her book. However, before she could even start talking a knock came at the door. The person that followed the knock was Synn. "Sorry, to intrude, Ann. I need to see Alyxis for just a minute," he explained.

"Fine. Oh, and while you're at it why don't you take all my students?"

"Sorry, I only need to talk to Alxis."

Ann nodded for Alyxis to go and she followed Synn out of the classroom. "You really saved me, Zaynn," she said as soon as they were away from the door.

"You are welcome," answered Synn.

"Why did you pull me out of class?"

Synn turned and looked her in the eyes. "You're going to be a hero, Alyxis."

"Why is that?"

"You're and Elemental. A Water Elemental that is."

"I'm a what?"

"You are a Water Elemental."

"What's that?"

Synn smiled softly. "A Water Elemental is a person that has the ability to manipulate anything water related. Your grandmother was and Earth Elemental."

Alyxis nodded and fainted. Synn just sighed.
