Water
Giver of life, bringer of death
I dream of water
It plagues my mind

Stranded in a dark forest
I fear the stream
Yet I'm pulled toward it
It dances in my dreams
Dragging me to the brink
Of obsession
I touch the water hungrily
I begin to bleed
Red stains the earth around me
Absorbed by the current
My mind screams at me
To continue or cease, I cannot tell
I want to break away
I need to break away
But to stop the bleeding
Is to invite panic
Panic far greater than pain

My body bears the wear of water
And I can no longer hide
The obsession, nor the curse
I'm brought away
Ripped from the surface of the stream
By the people who lie outside
Untainted by the call of water
But they don't understand
They can't understand
They don't want to
The bleeding stops
And they think they've done well
But they're blind to me
As I struggle to breathe
As I'm caught in the clutches of fear

And once again, I dream of water
