she was oh-so-cynical,
transpiring from her mouth,
her harsh words fired left and right,

suddenly,
she turned from thistle to buttercup.
until that day, until the experience she held dear to her heart;
it was all a myth to her.

i watched helplessly as she stumbled and fell
but his osseous arms cushioned the tumble,

bony-on-bony they clung to each other,
they were the missing pieces of each other's jigsaw
and their hearts entwined, two became one.
they were dependent;
dangerously so.

love.
it was her life
it was her death,

inevitably so.

entwined,
they shared
too much.

her secret;it drove him away
but he was her life support
and he could adapt.

she never could.

she stumbled and fell once again,
but into a deadlier place,
a place where no arms were there to cushion the tumble.
she went somewhere i couldn't follow;
down the helterskelter.

to the end.
