There are children in their beds each night,
Awake with hunger and with fright.
Not sure if they'll live to see
The sun rise o'er the deep blue sea.
These children are without a mom,
She was killed when enemies dropped a bomb.
These children don't have dads anymore,
He was killed in an unnecessary war.
I have a mom and a dad,
They comfort me when I feel sad.
They are my protection throughout life,
Even though it can cause them grief and strife.
I wish that all children, near and far,
Boy and girl, wherever they are
Could have parents just like me
So they could live their lives carefree
The way children ought to be.
