Life as Eri

My name is Eri. I am of no importance. Sure I live in Carsol, the capital of Tyrek, but it's not where you live that makes you who you are. It's your view on life. My view states that even though I am a young woman who should be living with her family until she finds a husband, I should live independantly. So I have, sort of.

I live in the attic of an upstairs apartment of the business owned by my landlord. Yes, I live in the attic. It's just me. Why should I get a whole house? Of course I have a job, as I need money to pay my rent. I mostly make deliveries for my landlord because his children are too young to do so. Usually he takes my rent out of my paycheck, which I don't mind. Less responsibility on me.

I love my little room. Just enough room for a bed and a table and chair. It even has a nice little window that I like to gaze out of during my precious free time. I can see the castle from here. It seems so far away, yet so close. Perhaps someone is looking from there at me. We just don't know it yet.

It was a nice, sunny day. There was hardly a cloud in the bright blue sky. I had been sent out to get a birthday present for my landlord's oldest son. I had just perchased a beautiful, new sketchbook when the large market crowd got loud. I mean abnormally loud, as if the market were ever quiet. Then I saw them. Their crimson dress uniforms stuck out in the crowd. The stern look on their faces. The gleaming metallic of their shields. Everyone knew how they were. They were part of the army. Just not any part, but the Royal Guard. One of the stoic men looks right at me. He talks to one of his buddies and they begin walking to me. I think nothing of it until they grab me and I slowly lose conciousness.

A short time later I wake up facing a stone wall. It's quite pretty actually. The beauty of the stone work, the color of the actual stone. I was so busy admiring the wall that I didn't notice that there was another person in the room with me. That is, until I heard his voice. "Her."
