Blue Bird

Life, disappointment, love, and better things ahead. This is my interpretation of all those things. No matter the cage we find ourselves in there is always something more in store for us if we are willing to cast aside the past and reach for it.

Blue Bird

Lovely lady blue bird

Sitting high upon her pedestal

Iron bars to the world

Belting out songs of love

From a lifetime ago

Clipped, broken, bound

Chained to the unmerciful

Forsaken for other worldly pleasures

Beautiful on the outside

Damaged within

The bars that contain her

Her one and only friend

Throughout the the years the bars began to rust

The once profound love she felt turned to bitter dust

Gone were her dreams

Simply washed away

Beneath rotted bridges and lackluster promises made

Still lovely lady blue bird sings

Not of things she lost

But of things that could be

Of dreams born anew

Fresh love blossomed from friendship

Bright and no longer askew

The cage that once held her is no more

Rusted pieces lay crumpled upon a dirty floor

Unbroken, unbound

Lovely lady blue bird takes her flight

Chasing dreams in the glow of warm sunlight
