Blatant Disrespect
We want stuff cheap
(Big box mart cheap),
But are we willing
To receive
Consequences indirectly
Because of it.
Do we want to fine
The country of origin
For pollution
That travels across the ocean
To our west coast?
Or do we want to fine
The country of origin
For blatant disrespect
Of international copyrights?
Do we want to fine
The country of origin
Of most of the stuff
That we buy cheap
As a punishment
For not enforcing
International laws
That protect
Intellectual property
In countries
That they did not come from?
Do we want to fine
Another country
Through the products
That they supply us
For dirt cheap
In order to force that country
To comply with laws
That their people violate blatantly?
If so,
Then put on the tariffs
And taxes
Upon their goods.
