Sitting, listening, letting the music fill the room

Caressing my ears, letting myself relax as the notes play

The speakers let them gush forth reminding me

Of the times I listened to them before

On the back patio as the leaves fell down

At the desk as I played a game

As I looked at the moon and lost myself

On my friend's kitchen floor as I read

In a hospital room on an uncomfortable chair

In the park as I swerved around a dog and its owner

As I laid still on my bed trying to sleep.

Music filling me silently with

Joy and sorrow, anger and calm

Always there, always waiting

To welcome me, back once more

Into its loving arms.
