Prologue: Micro Waves

I used to be a pop can.

I had the life of a king. I sat in a perfectly kept, cool fridge all day long. I watched as others got taken away and I with my cocky arrogance knew I wouldn't be taken no matter what happened. I became even more cocky and inched my way slowly to the front of the line. My friends thought I was absolutely crazy! You're going to get taken, they'd say to me every day. Yet I sat there confident that I would be the one with the last laugh.

I was wrong.

The last thing I remember was hands closing upon me and screaming for help, though my pleas fell unanswered. The evil humans had taken me, and I had no one to blame but myself.

I woke up as a microwave.
