Prologue

A ragged looking girl ran along maze-like corridors, all so similar looking. Blood dripped from a wound on her right shoulder and she moved with a limp. Sweat trickled down her forehead as she glanced over her shoulder. A pounding of footsteps sounded behind her. Time was short.

She rounded a corner and there! Right in front was the door she was aiming for. Unlocking the door with shaky hands, she entered and locked the door behind her. An unread sign swung outside of the door like a pendulum; how fitting for what the sign said: time-travel.

The girl crossed to a machine in the far-left corner of the room. What catches ones attention was the giant screen stretched across the machine. It was for transportation of small items only. She did not attempt to try the full-body as she knew that it was kept locked up securely. Her fingers reached into her pocket and pulled out the letter that she had written a few weeks ago, when she had first learned of the news. Her hands hovered over a small box indecisively. Everything was happening exactly like what she knew would happen. History, or the future, repeats itself. Still, sending the letter was all she could do. Time, was not on her side.

In one quick movement, she dropped the letter into the small brown package. It would be wrapped in silver string and marked accordingly. Words flashed across a giant screen: Destination?

She typed in: Year 2010, May, 13th. New York, Rolsin Street, Number 578. Her hands fumbled over the keyboard in her hurry to get it done.

A furious banging on the door.

Ignoring it, she tapped SEND on the screen.

The door broke under the pressure of the laser guns.

Package sent.

Her aggressors charged in through the door. Twisting her arms brutally behind her back, they pushed the girl out of the door. The sign over the door stopped swaying.
