I wrote this poem a while ago for English class, and figured that I'd put it up.
When Cannons Rumble
When guns and cannons begin to rumble,
And the wings of planes lift high to the sky.
No one thinks of what the bombs will crumple,
They just know to give victory a try.
Across the country men sign up to fight,
While thoughts of glory fill many a dream.
Believing medals will come into sight,
And that always will the stars seem to gleam.
But when they all fight the lines do falter,
All among many fields lies signs of death.
The stars in the sky keep getting darker,
Blood that is filled creates a heavy stench.
So every torn seam we must hope to tend,
Until long term peace can show us the end.
