As I stand

all alone at my station

What if nobody

knows where I am?

In this night air

as the stars stare

I ponder thoughts

that no words can define

Yes, in this city

after midnight

beneath the halo

of a streetlight

The world

seems so far away

a blank canvas

for a divine artist

paints poised for the

new light of day

A train hisses far off

in the distance

and I can't help

but smile at the thought

If everyone is on it

except me,

could things really be

all that bad?

For in this city

after midnight

beneath the halo

of a streetlight

The stars stare

in the night air

at the thoughts

I keep hidden from view
