Picking Lots

"Alright, Zeusy-boy," Hades said. "You're doing good, now finish this, Cerberus," he said.

Zeus and Cerberus were circling around each other.

"OK, Foul beast. Prepare to perish," Zeus said, as he tackled the beast. He managed to bring down one head, but one of the other sunk it's teeth into Zeus shoulder.

"That's it! Rip him to bits," Hades cheered, as he watched the battle from afar.

Yet Zeus fought through the pain, and continued to fight, snapping the neck of one of the dogs heads, before pulling away, surveying the damage.

"Looks like your pet's in a bit over it's heads," Poseidon said with a chuckle.

Hades was not amused, but was glad to see the head the Cyclops knocked out was up now, and was ready for battle. "Get him. Crush him," Hades barked, as his beast launched itself at Zeus with all it's might.

"Gah," Zeus had the wind knocked out of him, as Cerberus tackled him, and began to bite down as hard as it could on his arms. He tried his best to fight out, but the snake-tail had wrapped around his leg, trying to keep him down.

Hades was chomping at the bit, for his champion to finish it. "Now! Go for the neck now," he called.

Cerberus tried to strike where his master commanded, but was unable to. Zeus kept narrowly dodging the strikes, as the head came down at his throat, and as it pulled up, Zeus saw his moment. He managed to role into the top position and pin Cerberus to the ground, and after repeated head buts, he shattered another of the heads' skulls.

"What?!," Hades couldn't believe what he was seeing. Zeus was actually winning.

"Looks like your mutt's in over his heads," Poseidon joked, as Hades looked on in disbelief and rage, as Zeus started pummeling his creation.

"Nooooooo," he cried, as Zeus delivered a huge punch snapping the final head's neck.

"The battle is won," Zeus said, as he finished off Cerberus by ripping his snake-tail off, and Hades and Poseidon joined him on the battle-field.

"Now. Lets get on with it shall we," Zeus said, breathing somewhat hard.

"For winning, I will rule over the skies. Poseidon, I dare say, I owe you a debt of gratitude, for having your Cyclops. So, I bestow upon you, dominion over the seas," Zeus said.

"Thanks brother," Poseidon said, bowing his head.

"And last, but least, you Hades, will be the keeper of the Underworld," Zeus sneered, looking at his brother, who only muttered in disdain. "Now then. I am off to build my palace," Zeus said, turning away, but just as he did so, Hades created a three pronged spear, and attempted to kill his brother, Zeus, but was stopped, as just before the blades touched Zeus, Poseidon caught the longest one, and slugged Hades as hard as he could, knocking him to the ground, unconscious.

"Thank you, brother," Zeus once again said, shaking Poseidon's hand in gratitude. "This will not be soon forgotten, and I will do anything I can to help you at any time," he said.

"Actually, brother. There is something," Poseidon said, looking over at his dead Cyclops.

"Say no more, brother," Zeus said, as he began to swirl his hands, and the Cyclops returned to life, well, albeit a bit confused.

"Many thanks," Poseidon said, leading the Cyclops to it's watery home.

Before heading to his own, domain in the heavens, Zeus gave one look at his brother, who was still out cold. A look of sympathy, is what he gave Hades, as he rose to the heavens to establish the Age of the Gods.
