She teeters down technicolor side streets, a tornado whirling in her chest. Is it strange, to feel homesick for a place that is not your home? Part of June's Creative Odyssey.

Emerald City

Each night at three A.M., the mundane street

transforms into a technicolor world
where she wanders, seeking her courage by
drowning her brain in vodka and glitter.

After eight shots, the city lights turn green.

Stumbling from the nightclub, she totters toward
the metro, hoping that if she follows
the yellow line, her crimson heels clicking

together, it will finally bring her home.
