With a sigh, Alexis stood up and stretched her brown eagle like wings, her long blond hair falling from its place as it ran down her back like a waterfall and stopping at her waist. Her blue eyes scanned the people below running about like little ants as they headed for work that one winter morning.

"Where the hell is she?" Alexis asked herself as she continued to scan the streets of the busy city for her little friend.

The winter's sky was turning for the worse and Alexis didn't want to think of what might happen if she didn't find her little friend or a safe and secure place for them to stay during these next few winter months.

Being careful not to draw attention to herself, Alexis spread her wings and jumped off of the building.

Flying through the sky, she noticed that the clouds were getting ready to let the snow dance upon the earth.

She scanned the streets as she gently flapped her wings. She still could not find the one she was looking for.

With a frown, Alexis allowed the wind to help her as she allowed her wings out to their full length as she glided along the sky. The wind was slowly turning from a gentle winter breeze into a harsher winter storm kind.

The darkness that came with snow storms started to set in, the humans below started to turn the lights on and made the preparations for what they knew was coming.

Alexis' brain was screaming at her to find cover, to find safety before the storm came, but her heart was telling her otherwise.

A scream of pure terror came from below. Alexis' heart skipped a beat and drawing her wings close to herself, Alexis flew fast throw the air like a bullet. She knew that scream and she really hoped that the owner of the scream was both who she hoped and didn't hope it was.

Alexis landed on the ground with a small tumble because of the speed she had been flying at. She didn't even stop to cover up her eagle like wings and instead ran deeper into the alley.

As she ran into the alley, she spotted a small figure with a cat tail and ears who was hanging onto another much taller figure that the small neko had in her mouth.

"You damn neko," the male said angrily as he tried to get the neko to get off of his hand, "Just give me that bird's location and whatever your carrying and I'll let you go."

The brown haired neko just shook her head, making her neko fangs sink deeper into the man's hand. A bag the same size as the small neko was lying only a few feet away.

Alexis watched with narrowed eyes as the man gave up and reached for his pocket. Enough was enough she decided, she wasn't going to let this go down the route that it was about to go in if she was right.

As she started to walk out of the shadows, the snow started to fall, each second the snow getting heavier and heavier. Alexis didn't care, she knew in her heart and mind what was important and she wasn't going to go back on her little friend.

The little neko that had made sure she rested enough,

The one that had looked after her when the stress of life had gotten too much for her,

The little one that she had comforted and taught as the seasons passed,

The two of them had been through some pretty hard times throughout the past years they had spent together, the memories that Alexis had were priceless ones...

And she wasn't ready to stop making those memories.

"I wouldn't do that if I was you," Alexis said, her voice sounding icy like the weather, "Put her down and get out of here."

The man looked round at her, his trench coat flowing with him, the look of pure horror that took hold of him made it so he didn't notice as the female neko let go of him and ran over to her bag.

The man knew when he was defeated; the tales about the legendary skills of Alexis had reached his ears.

"I'm sorry," the man stuttered as he backed out of the alley, "I didn't know it was your neko."

With a step towards the man, Alexis watched as the man ran off into the crowed street and away from them before turning to her little friend.

"You're alright Hikira?" Alexis asked as she knelt down and checked the small neko over for any injures, "That man didn't hurt you did he?"

Hikira only looked up at Alexis and gave her a smile, "Thank Ra that your back."

With a grin, Alexis picked Hikira up along with the bag, "So what took you so long? You could of easily defeated that man, so why didn't you?"

"I was protecting what I found," Hikira said with a sheepish grin.

"And just what did you find?" Alexis asked, hoping that this wasn't like the time she had to give a fly a funeral when Hikira found it dead in the park on a random bench.

Hikira led Alexis deeper into the alley, as Alexis allowed herself to be dragged she noticed that there seemed to be empty houses around this area, still in good condition with everything working but just abandoned.

"You like?" Hikira asked with a giant grin as she noticed Alexis gaze, "I was about to get some surplies like we agreed upon when a person caught me!"

Hikira let out a squeak of surprise when she found herself being held tightly in Alexis' arms.

"They didn't hurt you did they?" Alexis asked as she hugged Hikira close.

"Nope but they did give me a Christmas present!" Hikira said as she lent over Alexis back and pulled some paper out of the bag and then gave it to Alexis.

Interested Alexis held onto Hikira with one arm while using the other one to open the paper only to gasp in shock.

"Does this mean what I think it means?" Alexis asked her voice soft and nervous as she looked at a happy Hikira.

"Yeap, we've got ourselves a home for Christmas with running water, eleticry, warmth and food!" Hikira said as she moved about in Alexis arms until she was now facing the houses with her back resting against Alexis chest, "See that house? The one between the houses with the white doors and at the end of the street?"

Alexis looked to the house, the snow didn't seem so heavy anymore, the house had everything and more Alexis could of wished for.

"Ready to go home?" Hikira asked with a grin.

Alexis gave Hikira a smile of her own, with a home of their own this would allow her to do things to earn money that wasn't against the law, to keep Hikira safe and happy, for them both to have a better life...

"Yes," Alexis said with a shocked smile as she found the key to the house within the paper work as she had been putting the paper away to get a better hold on Hikira, "It's time for us to go home."

The End.
