Pain is a tool

That can teach us any lesson

I've learned many

Taught by its cruel hand

If I had no pain

Would I be who I am today?

Would I fight for what I love

Yet know when to let fate
Take the wheel?

Would I be as confident and know

That I can survive anything?

Would I know when to speak

And when to be silent?

When to cry

And how not to break?

My heart wouldn't hurt

But would I know

How to protect it?

It's made me who I am

And so I'll keep this pain
