Sometimes I lie just to lie
Always made with brilliance
Sometimes I cry just to cry
But does it make a difference?

I made this mask out of paper
That drowns in the rain
Translucent, see I am the caper
Can I hide in the shame?

The world expects so much of me
Perform the most perfect show
When all I want is to be free
How did I become a hero?

Kill me off and hide away
I tense at every move
Can't hold back nor can I stay
So what did you approve?

You know, I wish upon the stars
With all my empty heart
Maybe they're just flying cars
Why is all of this my fault?

I never wanted it to be this way
A hero's job is never done
Mask worn all night and day
Did I deserve this silent shun?

Sometimes I lie just to lie
Always made with brilliance
Sometimes I cry just to cry
But does it make a difference?
