Love letters without address
God must have uncrossed our stars
flinging them so far apart
that even the foreign heavens of night
we gaze upon, we see differently.
I believe,
He believes this a mercy.
For when two such as us
collide, the coming together
creates an astonishing light
but the falling...
the dark sky gets
darker,
colder,
the debris lingering,
absence burning behind the eyes.
Not meant to be because we are meant to be
and this is a world of always leaving.
If I believed in past lives
I'd say we even broke God's heart last time…
I'd name this unbound ache, this calling, calling, calling
across the wind tossed waves
—
my missing you.
