A Hero Lies in You

My hero is not the sort of person who enters with the sound of a foghorn or a sprinkle of confetti. My hero is one of the 'unnoticed ones' who ,unknowingly, lifts others' spirits just by being themselves.

Just like any other student, my hero gets up very early each day. On some days, he doesn't come to school because he doesn't feel well, and he misses out on what happens in school. Honestly, he can be lazy at times, but I see the potential in him. Now, if only he had the drive to reach his full potential.

Later in the day (assuming he has gone to school) he has to deal with academic stress, projects, tough lessons, etc. Everyone in school knows how stressful studying can be, but I know of only a few people who find the time amidst a busy schedule to be with their friends, talk to them, etc. Reaching out to them—even if some confide all their problems in him, and some don't even reach out to him! Yet he remains humble, kind, trustworthy, helpful, and…oh! so many other good traits.

Close though we may be, I don't know how my hero ends his day. Of course, he probably does a bit of school work, a lot of computer games. Really, in some ways he is like other people, and in other ways he is so different. The emotions he feels, his sentiments—my hero shares them with me, and I like to think that I am considered one of his confidantes. Even if he knows the most embarrassing things about me, and I know a lot more about him than others probably care to know, we remain friends. Zupercalifragilistic—that's a long, unreal word for a real person who is, to me, a hero. Just by being the way he is, he brightens up someone's day. He is a star whom people don't look at, but if ever they need one to look at, he is there.
