I apologize for any spelling errors/grammar problems in advance because I'm not that fantastic at finding or correcting either of those...
And if there's anything that you find dosen't make sence, I'd like it if you told me. Ha ha, I always find stupid mistakes and stuff when I re-read some of my older writing (which this is, I started it at like... the beguining of last year, which is a while for me...)
So anyways... hope you enjoy it! :)
Both fell to the ground, fists flying, rolling over and over.
"Stop it!" Meghan screeched at them as they continued to brawl. "Stop fighting!" And when she saw that crimson was starting to stain the floor, Meghan gasped while salt water pricked her eyes. "Please, you have to stop fighting!"
Reyes and Will just kept punching, hitting, kicking and rolling, totally oblivious to anything else. Meghan stared down at them in horror, willing them to stop, shouting at them and crying. But nothing she did stopped their hostility. When she started to scan the room for something to help, she spotted Caleb, who was sitting at the table as he was before, eating his food and watching his best friend and brother fight with a smirk on his face.
"Caleb, do something!" Meghan cried. When he finally looked up at her, he regarded her expression, and then got up and passed over to the combating boys. Yanking them apart, Caleb held them at arm's length on both sides of himself.
"So do you feel any better, brother?"
"Actually, I do." Will wiped his hand over his mouth, wiping away blood.
"And how about you Reyes?"
"Never better. Oh, wait, never mind, scratch that. I felt better when I was inside your girlfriend." Reyes smirked vindictively, not noticing that there was blood slapped across his face becuas he was too busy taunting Will.
Meghan's breath hitched.
Will struggled to get away from his brother to pummel Reyes even more, he was asking for it.
"That's enough." Caleb growled as he shook his brother and best friend wildly with only one hand on each of them. Both stilled. "Now, William, why don't you run along with your girlfriend?" Grip easing slightly.
Will's jaw clenched.
Why was Caleb acting so responsible now? Why was he acting like the big boy, the older sibling, the sensible, strong, witty one? Because he clearly was not any of those things in Will's eyes.
Maybe he was just trying to have sex with Meghan too… If he was, he was going to pay for it. If he was thinking of laying one finger on her… I'll rip it off his hand. Will thought, smiling to himself.
Pulling free of Caleb's grasp, Will snarled, "Neither of you are ever to lay a hand on her, if you do I'll kill you." Only then was when Will realized that Meghan was trembling. Forgetting about everything else, he ran over to her and tucked her into his chest. He shushed her, "What's wrong, sweetheart?"
Reyes chuckled in the background and Will thought he heard his brother murmur something like "shut up" to him.
"I don't like you fighting with people. I don't like you getting hurt." Her body shook and Will tightened his grip on her, his hands rubbing up and down her back.
"It's okay, Meghan," He whispered before kissing her on the cheek.
"No more fighting, okay?"
Meghan's body became looser and less shaky as she hugged Will back. Taking a deep breath, she inhaled his sweet sent. With her nose, Meghan bumped Will's chin in demand. Demand for a kiss. And he complied – kissing her softly, sweetly, on the lips.
"What's going on in here?" a purely masculine voice echoed through the kitchen.
Breaking the kiss, Meghan and Will both looked to the doorway of the kitchen were Will's father stood, body rigid and mouth hung open in fright.
When no one answered, Will's dad repeated, "What's going on here?"
Biting his lip, Reyes tried, "We were just–"
"You were what? Beating up my son?"
"No, he came at me first!"
"Will, is that true?"
Will hesitated and then answered in full honesty, "Yeah, but–"
"No buts, it's a yes or no question."
"And why did you do that? I know you're dying to tell me, son." Will's father's lips flinched as he fought the reaction to smirk. What a bastard! Meghan was surprised at the words that rushed into her head. She wondered if Will's father abused him as hers did her. Maybe not to the same extent, and maybe not physically, but there might just be a slim chance that he… No, there's no way. Will turned out too well.
"It's his fault!" Will told his dad solidly. "He raped Meghan."
She didn't feel the slightest bit offended by the comment somehow.
"My girlfriend, the girl who's standing beside me right now," Will seemed to be in shock; rocked to the nerve that he dad would make a comment like that.
"Oh," Meghan stood still as Will's father assessed her. While he looked at her she didn't feel the slightest bit uncomfortable. Oddly, she felt completely normal, as if she weren't being looked over. "William, you could do much better." He finally said after seconds of watching her.
A growl like sound came out of Will's mouth and Meghan looked at his face in shock, he didn't meet her gaze. "Well, that's what you think dad, I don't. I think she's perfect just the way she is." He sounded so sure of himself when he said that, the words making Meghan's heart clench tightly.
"I'll second that motion." Reyes said smugly.
Will shot him a challenging glance, he thought that Reyes would have been up for the challenge but he backed down with a trying glance. Surprised that Reyes backed down, Will tensed for a second, and then let it slide. He protectively and somewhat possessively wrapped an arm around Meghan's waist and pulling her to his side.
Will's dad frowned at the action. "So you're choosing her?"
"What do you mean, dad?" Arm tightening.
"You're choosing her instead of Madison? What about Bethany? She was a nice girl. And Violet? What about that girl you took to the movies last week? Alexis, right? Yes, that was her name. What about Alexis?"
At Will's father's words Meghan went motionless. He had dated that many girls? Was that all that he had dated in his life or just the recent ones? What if they were only the recent ones? How many girlfriends had he had? How many had he had in his bed? How many had he taken to his sports games and out for karaoke with his friends? The color in Meghan's face began to drain. Am I just another one of those girls?
"Dad, I can choose my own girlfriend. Meghan's different then all those other girls, she makes me feel different than any of those other girls did." Was he truly telling his dad this? Yes, he was. "I think that I know who I love."
I think that I know who I love…
I think that I know who I love…
I think that I know who I love!
Had he actually said that he loved her?
Meghan looked up at Will's face in surprise, and he was already looking at her. His eyes were hinted with a secret type a spark, and she loved it. She loved him. Stupid as it was – they had only known each other for, what, three days? – but she did, she loved him with all she was. Even though she didn't consider herself much, she did love him with every fiber in her broken body.
Without thinking about what she was doing, she smiled up at him while wetness glistened in her eyes.
She was loved for once in her life. She was loved!
"I love you, too." Her smile grew larger as she tried to see through the tears that coated her eyes.
Will's heart sped after he went over her words a few more times in his head. She loved him as well. Leaning down, he kissed her on the cheek. She tilted her head so that she could kiss him on the cheek too.
"How touching, really, I'm so going to cry right now." Reyes mocked sarcastically.
Meghan pushed away from Will, walked steadily up until she was in front of Reyes and then poked him with a firm index finger on his chest. "Reyes, listen right now and listen really good because I'm only going to tell you this once, okay?" She smiled darkly, and when he didn't respond she continued. "Well, I'm finally pretty happy for once in my life and I'm sick of your snide comments, you're sick jokes, you're stupid remarks and your physical abuse. Alright? I don't need any more of that in my life and I'm not going to put up with it from you anymore."
Standing steadily in front of him, Meghan waited for an answer, and she didn't have to wait long. "It's not your place to tell me what to do, slut."
"Oh, I'm the slut now? Look who's talking, man whore!" Meghan pursed her smiling lips and raised her eyebrows as she waited for a comeback from Reyes.
"Man whore? That's the best you can do? Anyways, I don't have to talk to you, I don't talk to prostitutes." Reyes nipped at Meghan, but she didn't even flinch.
When Meghan heard Will approaching from behind her she held out her hand to stop him, "I can handle myself Will."
The footsteps seceded.
Looking up at Reyes amused face shot the urge to slap it off of him into Meghan, or to kick him in a place so that he would never be able to have kids, not that any woman would be stupid enough to marry—let alone have a relationship—with Reyes. She decided to do something better. Winding up quickly, she slammed her fist into his right cheek, making him stumble backwards and fall to the floor on his bottom. Shaking out her hand, trying to dull the faint pain that coursed through her fist, Meghan looked down at the face of an astonished Reyes. Nipping the air, Meghan smirked before turning back to Will – he too, wore an astonished expression.
"Ready to go?" Meghan smiled, trying to look fairly innocent.
Will struggled to say anything. Finally he cleared his throat and said, "Yeah, let's go." Taking Meghan's hand possessively, Will led her out of the house, both his brother and Reyes staring after them, his dad seeming too in thought to care.
After they were in Will's car, on the road, Will finally let out a sign and said, "We're going to the drug store, right?"
"Yes, I don't want to take any chances with Reyes." Meghan frowned. What if she was carrying Reyes's baby? Would she take a morning-after pill? Get an abortion? Would she have the strength to kill her unborn child – even if it was part of Reyes?
She wasn't vicious like her father. She tried telling that to herself all her life, but now she might as well be him if she was willing to kill a part of her. Even if it was a part of her that was shared with a monster like Reyes it was still under the same principles. But she was with Will and he said he would care for her… right? Or would he leave her right after she told him that she was pregnant? If she was. She hoped with all her being that she wasn't. She wasn't ready for this.
For some amazing reason, Will reached out and took hold of one of Meghan's hands firmly. "Whatever happens, just know that I'll be with you no matter what, okay?"
Meghan sighed happily. "Thank you; you don't know how good it feels to hear you say that." She squeezed his hand hard, somewhat afraid that he would disappear. It was possible that the only good thing in her life could leave her. Life seemed to think that she didn't need any happiness in her life, just sadness and hurt. She actually believed that for a while too – pretty much her whole life – until Will came into the picture.
Now everything was different. In this case, Meghan loved different.
For pretty much the whole ride to the drug store, Meghan and Will sat in silence, holding hands and staring out the front window of the car. It wasn't so much an awkward silence, but a peaceful one. But as Will pulled the car into the drugstore parking lot the silence became tense and heavy, as if a weight was being pressed down on them. As the car came to a jarring stop in front of the drugstore, Meghan closed her eyes and swallowed hard.
"You ready?" Will squeezed her hand reassuringly.
"No – let's go." Holding his hand tightly once more, and then letting go and getting out of the car, Meghan held her chin high as she tried to mimic any form of pride that she could possibly be feeling. She felt none.
Meghan and Will walked into the drugstore, ready to face the inevitable.
Standing in the pharmacy section and looking straight to the pregnancy tests, Meghan felt guiltier than ever. Reading all the labels and looking at all the packages made her sick. Even with Will at her side, she felt worse than she had ever felt.
Screw pregnancy tests, I'm finishing this before it begins. Will would be devastated if she was pregnant, she knew that. He would try and hide it, but under everything, she knew he would break inside. So would she.
"Okay, I'm finished looking," Meghan told Will.
"What one are you going to choose?" he held up a light and dark striped box, "I think this one seems pretty reliable."
"I'm not getting one, I'm getting a pill."
"What do you mean, you're getting a pill?"
"A morning-after pill, you know?"
"I know what it is, but why are you getting it?" Will looked puzzled, why couldn't he get it?
"I don't want to know if I'm pregnant or not, I just want to get it over with. Please, can't we just do it this way?" Sliding her hand into Will's Meghan bit her lip in anticipation of what he would say.
Before looking into Meghan's eyes and pondering for a moment, Will let out a sharp breath, "If it's what you really want."
"It is," Meghan smiled, sliding onto her tiptoes and kissing Will on the lips sweetly, and pulling back quickly.
"Hey," he sounded disappointed, "I wasn't finished kissing you!" Dragging her back up, Will kissed her again, his hands holding hers and his lips taking possession of hers. It wasn't like their kiss in his bedroom at all, it was guarded and not that frantic. But it was nice, really nice.
After getting the pill, Will drove Meghan back to his house, but when he opened the car door for her to get out, she hesitated.
"What's wrong?" he asked with concern coloring his voice.
"I don't think I'm welcome in your house anymore…"
"Meghan, you're always allowed in my house."
"But after you and Reyes—"
"So what?" Will shrugged and reached for her hand, pulling on it until she got out of the car. "I'm not going to leave you alone anymore, ever."
"You can't always be there to protect me Will," Meghan told him.
"I know, but I can do my best to protect you when I can be near you, Meghan. Don't you know how guilty I feel about what happened to you last night with Reyes? I could have been there to protect you but I wasn't. He fucking raped you Meghan! Under my own roof and then he admitted to it right to my face! You can't possibly know how I felt this morning when you woke up and started bawling. I felt guilty! I wasn't even remotely angry at the time I felt fucking guilty because I wasn't there to protect you from that sick son of a bitch!" Will ranted right in front of Meghan, his fists balled at his sides as if he wanted to hit something so badly.
"You have to recognize that things happen for a reason, Will."
Will opened his mouth to say something but Meghan added hastily, "I know there's no excuse for what he did but I've had worse, you know that. Some people just… just aren't good people. Reyes deceived us. He might not be a bad person but he made a mistake. Everyone makes mistakes Will; you just have to accept that. You've made mistakes too."
"I know I've made mistakes Meghan!" he yelled. "But I always make amends! And I don't rape people, I've made a few mistakes in my life but nothing as horrible as raping a person!"
"Some mistakes are larger than others," she whispered sadly.
"I know, okay? I know…" he sighed, "Now can we please stop arguing about this and go inside so you can take that pill?"
Meghan nodded and that's exactly what they did.
