My better self at war with my inner Medusa. Men, *grrr. Lol, truly I'm not as bitter as this poem would have you think. The idea simply presented itself.

I'm not Jesus, you know

Good christian that i am
i attended your wedding.

Genuflected, said a little prayer
locked with a little Amen-
meaning the 'so be it'.

But afterwards the pagan in me
just had to reach down
and pick up one of the rose petals
scattered and crushed beneath your feet.

I smiled, turned to my friend and said,
"Look, He loves me not."

Half the choir laughed.

And I am glad, I am,
to see you happy.

But damn, i hope she breaks your heart
because what man should have the power to rip apart so many flowers.
