To others, she seemed
cold and unfeeling;
removed from reality
and anchored in dreams.
Little did they know
or care
how she spent her days
(and some of the nights),
voluntarily confined
to a table and chair
in a frigid corner
of the library,
encased in the word-chains
that escaped her pen
as she wrote
a poem
that could never
let her go.
