Tainted Blood

Book Five

Chapter 113

Auryn exhaled loudly as he checked on Riku while trying to ignore the pain in his stomach. A small puddle of blood was forming. Riku had fainted from the electricity and had returned to normal without the shadows swallowing him.

"Wh-what was that? He was a completely different demon when those shadows—" Rin began.

"I can't give you an explanation," Auryn interrupted with a blank look.

"Why not? I'm not helping unless—"

Auryn closed his eyes and sighed loudly.

"Eventually… you're going to see your mistake if you don't," Auryn said. He didn't raise his voice and ended up sitting down wincing at the pain in his stab wound," I was only told to find you but forcing you to do something you don't want to isn't my style."

Rin gave him an odd look. Auryn seemed to have a solemn look now as he stared off into the distance. He seemed to be patient waiting for her to contemplate on whether she should help him and his friend. A part of her couldn't bring herself to because they were demons but this one didn't seem too bad.

"Why do I get the feeling... you're always doing things you don't want to," Rin exclaimed giving him a critical expression. The crimson in Auryn's eyes were swirling into the brown before he responded.

"You aren't wrong."

Multiple explosions sounded in the distance and Auryn could sense those dark powers emitting from there. He glanced at Rin, who held a terrifying look in her eyes.

"I-I sensed those powers before… I kept ignoring them…"

Auryn frowned.

"I don't blame you."

Rin gave a serious expression towards Auryn.

"Fine I'll help. I can't ignore those dark powers forever."

Lillie stared at Kain for a long moment. Kain clenched his teeth as if he was in pain and his veins changed black. His eyes widened as he flashed a shadowy form before returning back to his human form. Then he was unconscious again.

"You done kissing him? Or are you going to go at it some more?" an obnoxious voice questioned. Lillie turned her attention to the voice to see Stark standing there with an arrogant smirk.

"It wasn't a kiss," Lillie said in a nonchalant manner and added," I'm going to finish him off." She disappeared from where she stood. Stark looked towards Loki and Seth and then glanced at Kain looking shocked and surprise and mix of other emotions he couldn't describe.

I really thought he died back then... Caleb... told us he did... It's the reason he ran off for a time.

"So did… Radon kiss you too?" Loki questioned dryly raising an eyebrow and added," I did not know you swung that way." In his view, it looked like Lillie had just kissed Kain and she had just said she was going to make him a guardian. Seth looked at him in disgust.

"I don't! AND hell no Radon didn't kiss me! We both rather die than that," he answered vehemently," He cut a vein and let me drink his blood!"

Seth's eyes widened sensing a presence behind him. He quickly side jumped away as Loki slashed him in the shoulder before jumping back himself. Lillie had attacked Seth with her shadow entities as she stood there with a playful smirk towards Seth.

"My anger got the best of me. I really wanted to keep making play doh out of your insides," Lillie said with a yawn," But it got boring. I decided... I'd... just end you."

Seth quickly slashed the air with one of his blade as a shadow came off it and began to go towards Lillie at a tremendous speed. Lillie laughed.

"Radon… really trains his guardians," Lillie remarked as she sidestepped away from the shadow. Then shadow entities began to gather behind her as she delivered a punch. Seth dodged it quickly. Shadow entities were shot from her fist going past Seth causing a huge explosion behind him. Lillie quickly kicked him but Seth ended up grabbing her foot despite the impact it had on his stomach. It probably had broken a couple ribs.

Lillie attempted to pull her foot from his grasp by kicking his stomach again but Seth wouldn't loosen his grip. She couldn't even move her other leg as Seth's shadow entities seemed to ensnarl it. Shadow entities slammed Lillie in the knee causing her to cry out. Lillie's own shadows grabbed Seth by the foot and pulled him into the ground. Lillie looked infuriated as she stared at the hole where Seth was.

"You broke my leg," Lillie said in a dark, sinister tone as she clicked her tongue. Shadow entities around her began to crawl into the hole like snakes. The shadows covered her like a cloud as a hint of her demon form showed itself. A pair of crimson eyes peered out from the shadows. Suddenly the ground around her crumbled causing her to fall and was hit at full force as the cloud of dirt covered the area like a smokescreen.

Loki's hands were in a fist. The blade in his hand was beginning to cut into his palm drawing blood. He turned to glare at Stark. The air around Stark was sadistic and bloodthirsty restraining himself from intervening.

"Why aren't we helping her?" Loki questioned icily.

"She won't let us anyway. It's her prey," Stark said darkly. Caleb arrived looking less than impressed by the scene and then turned to Kain still unconscious. He looked like he was seeing a ghost as he swallowed hard.

I thought he was dead…

Flashback…

Caleb, Stark and Kain were in the living room of a rather nice looking apartment looking anxious as they glanced out the balcony. It was dark out. Auryn sat on the couch keeping to himself as he read a book. Kain tied his hazelnut wavy shoulder length hair into a ponytail with a black ribbon.

"Wherever we go Hell has been after us and all we do is hide and move away to another place. The cycle just repeats itself. We can't do this forever and we definitely can't keep hiding that from Lillie," Kain exclaimed in frustration. Stark began to smirk arrogantly.

"We just need a plan. If we're sick of hiding, let's… give them a fight. We'll pick a place and go all out with Hell," Stark exclaimed. Kain glared at him.

"I get you were a commander of legions, but that will cost us. There's legions and legions in Hell and there's only four of us," Kain snapped at him. Stark smirked at him in amusement.

"Kain… Knowing Lillie, she's going to make friends and she'll probably meet some useful allies," Stark pointed out. Kain turned away from them in frustration.

"You two are connected to her because you're her guardians… I never know where she is until she uses a bit of her power or she's close by enough to sense. I'm useless when it comes down to it to know when she's in trouble," Kain exclaimed.

Stark smirked at him.

"Well if you were wondering she's not in danger unless she finds some on her own," Stark said obnoxiously. Kain glared at him.

"I wasn't wondering."

"Well then… if it wasn't for you… we wouldn't have gotten out of Hell so guess you're not as useless as you think you are," Stark exclaimed.

Suddenly they sensed the dark powers in the distance causing them to look out the window.

"Lillie broke that seal we put on her…" Kain trailed off inhaling a deep breath. Caleb cursed under his breath.

"Guess that was useless," Stark remarked in an obnoxious tone. Caleb had a dark, sinister look as he began to sense demon presences flooding the area where Lillie was.

"There are demons coming… a lot of them."

Kain furrowed his brow looking alert and apprehensive.

"It's time to find Lillie and we're leaving this town tonight."

[End Flashback]

Caleb bent down beside Kain still unconscious, who looked like he was having a nightmare. Caleb's eyes were filled with guilt realizing Kain hadn't died all this time. When he looked at Kain's right arm, the sleeve was blown in an awkward position as if nothing was filling it. There was no arm there. Kain had lost his good sword arm. Someone needed to disarm him so he would be unable to continue using his weapon.

"His right arm… was cut off," Caleb snarled between clenched teeth causing Stark to turn his attention to Caleb.

"What did you say?"

Caleb's gaze darkened.

"Are you deaf, Pretty boy? His right arm... is gone."

[End ch113]

End Note: Flashback will continue in the next chapter. Haha… Lillie has too many 'potentials' going on. Kain and Lillie weren't apart for too long. Man... I could not for the life of me describe that missing arm. It just sounds weird Lol. I hope the fighting was enjoyable which will be continued though I don't really want it to be too long. Caleb felt some guilt thinking it was his fault Kain "died" though the 'why' part is answered in the next chapter... hopefully.
