Chapter 10

-------------------

"I can't believe you just did that!" Lexie exclaims, putting her hands up in the air, in shock.

I couldn't believe I had done it either. You see, Lexie and I planned to wash my car every other Tuesday, because my car got strangely dirty. (No pun intended) Plus, we already had the basic items for washing cars: a sponge, a bucket of water, tire cleaner, and a garden hose. Being me, I squirted Lexie with the garden hose. Now, standing here, she was completely soaked.

"It's your own fault for washing my car, all innocently." I reply, spraying her again. She puts her hands up as if to block to water hitting her as I start to laugh.

When I think I have done enough damage, I cease the water from coming out by twisting the top. Lexie lowers her hands, her beautiful brown eyes coming to eye contact with my own green ones. I watch as she walks closer to me and wraps her arms around my neck, getting ready to kiss me. When she places her lips onto mine, I put my hand onto the small of her back, pulling her closer to me. I'm so into the kiss that I don't even notice myself drop the hose from my grasp.

The kiss ends soon and Alexie pulls away from grasp, giving me one of her mesmerizing smiles. I grin back at her, beaming. For what comes next, I did not prepare myself for. Quickly, Lex picks up the hose, and points it at me. Although I raise my hands in surrender, she still sprays me.

Laughing, she says,"Gotcha." I catch her wink at me, turning her back to me and towards to car.

"I know, it's not my fault that I can't resist you," I reply, wrapping my arms around her waist from behind.

"Save it, lover boy." Lex jokes.

I laugh lightly, pulling her closer to me."It's all true."

"Yeah, yeah, yeah. Let's get back to washing your car."

"Okay, mom."

Thirty minutes after we finish washing my car, we settle at the kitchen table as my mom brings us our plates of food. Washing the car was a bad idea, considering the fact that it was now raining. Lexie realizes it too, sighing. We had both gotten soaked for nothing.

"I'm sure next time something good will come out of your hard work," My mom says, entering the room with two plates in her hands.

As she sets them in front of us, Lexie replies,"Yeah, if these rain clouds ever clear up."

My mom ruffles her hair,"Cheer up. You used to love the rain. I remember you running outside with the biggest grin on your face, dancing in the rain."

I remembered that, too. She always ran outside with a toothy grin on her face, missing teeth or not. Lexie still very much loved the rain, though. Even if it ruins our hard work.

"Yeah.. I still do! It always smells so good," Lexie shows her familiar grin.

*"It's raining, Aaron!" Lexie says with her usual wide smile. Her childish face is filled with excitement.

Aaron smiles back, a smile with missing teeth and gaps."Let's go outside and celebrate!"

Alexie and Aaron run outside and dance in the rain, their laughter echoing from house to house, on the empty streets. The grab hands and twirl, avoiding the street like their parents had told them to, many times. Lexie slips and falls into the street and begins to cry. Car headlights inch toward her, obviously not seeing her.

Acting quickly, Aaron grabs her hands and drags her over to the side of the road, panic etching the features of his face. The car drives on, splashing water onto the two children. Alexie screams and cries, Aaron sits next to her and wraps his arms tightly around her. Tears begin to drip from his eyes, realizing if he hadn't acted fast, his friend would have been crushed.

"Thank you, Aary'." Lexie calms down, smiling her toothy grin.*

My mom walks out of the room, only to return with her own plate of food, sitting down next to Lexie. Lex twirls her spaghetti onto her fork and eats it. A piece of saucy noodle swipes across her cheek leaving a trail of sauce leading to her mouth. Watching as her chin moves up and down with each chew she does, I grab a napkin, wiping off the sauce.

Embarrassed, Lexie murmurs a "thank you," continuing to eat. I tear my eyes from her mouth to my plate of food and finally take a bite of my garlic bread.

"This food is really good, Mrs. Denson." Lexie says, politely.

My mom smiles, swallowing her food and replying,"Thank you, dear. Just call me Liz."

"Okay," Alexie responds, quietly, taking a small bite of her garlic bread.

I find myself staring at Lexie's mouth, again. Why? I have no idea. It was just attracting my attention for some reason. She slurps a noodle into her mouth, like a kid would do, making me chuckle. Lexie smiles at me, beaming.

The phone rings from the kitchen and my mom gets up, heading to the kitchen.

"C'mon, lets try it!" Lexie whispers, excitedly. I smile back, putting one end of a noodle into my mouth. Lexie picks up the other end and puts it into her mouth. Slowly, we slurp at the noodle, being sewn together until our lips touch. Sauce is squashed between our lips, making the taste of Lexie's lip gloss go away completely. It seems like Lexie knew exactly what I wanted to do, while I didn't.

"Aaron, your father is going to be home late, he's stuck in--" My mom's voice filters through room, stopping probably at the scene Lex and I were making.

Lexie quickly bites the noodle, breaking it so we can pull away. We both look at my mom, innocently, blush creeping up on our faces.

"-traffic," Mom finished her sentence and looks between Alexie and I,"No wonder you guys were staring at each other. Waiting for me to leave, eh?"

"Yeah, kinda." I reply, sheepishly.

"Sounds like your father and I," She continues. Ew, gross. My mom was talking about her relationship with my dad.

"You guys met while in high school?" Lexie asks, literally looking actually interested in my mom's life relationship life.

My mom nods,"High school sweet hearts since sophomore year. If I'm correct, it will be the same for you two."

I watch as Lexie's face turns completely red and turn back to look at my mom, saying,"Are you saying that you expect Lex and I to get married and have children?"

"Yes," Mom replies, obviously oblivious to the fact that she was embarrassing Lexie and I.

A phone rings near by and Lexie reaches into her pocket, answering it.

"Hello? Mom?"

...

"Okay, I'll be home. Bye, love you."

How short could a conversation get?

"I have to go," Lexie replies, scooping her uneaten things into the trash, looking apologetic.

I get up from my barely eaten plate of food and walk over to her,"So soon?"

"Yeah, I have to do some homework anyway. I'll text you, later."

"No, I'll walk you home," I reply, grabbing her hand, following her to the door.

She slowly nods as I open the front door for us, a small smile on both our faces. We just walk across the street and end up on porch where I pull her into a hug.

"Do you think your mom was right about us, getting married?"

Wanting to say, "yes" I refrain and instead say,"I guess we will have to see what the future holds for us."

"You sound like a fortune cookie," Lexie laughs, softly.

We pull away from the hug and both say goodnight. Just before Lexie leaves into the house, she presses her lips to mine, quickly. With that, she closes the door, and I stand there for a while just thinking one thing.

I've got it bad.

A/N:

Short chapter, I know. I just wanted to get it up and get it done, but I am satisfied with the way this relatively short chapter came out. *pats my back*

If you haven't already, check out my new story, Growing on Me. Speaking of that, since this chapter came out slowly, I wanted to say that it's because I'm waiting until I get my new story just started up and ready. I will try and update this story on Sunday, by the way. Maybe even tomorrow since I don't have to race those darn RC cars and I'll have the house to myself. Ah, talk about a teenage dream. xP

Well anyway,

R/R, please.

(PS. I ACCOMPLISHED ONE THING OFF OF MY BUCKET LIST! To make some snickerdoodles. Props to who ever made that cookie.)
