I wonder what it's like
to be the lonely tree
and watch as it all dies
and piles under me.

It's pretty but it's sad
the way the leaves turn brown
to pause for just a moment
and watch them flutter down.

Some will stop at yellow
others will burn red
but that won't change the fact
that they will soon be dead.
