Children have mittens

Adults have gloves

But there are some out there

Who have nothing at all.

--

I have shoes to walk in

Jackets to keep me warm

A man in an alley stands rugged

Ragged and torn

--

Walk by the first and pretend not to see

Big dim eyes staring in envy

Run by McDonald's for a quick bite to eat

Ignore the dead man's body lying in the street

--

A child sees another little girl

Standing cold in the rain

She stops to give her a hug

Trying to ease her pain

Give out a smile

Free of any shame

--

She says to the girl

"Take this, it's mine."

Walks away with one hand bare...

We can change this

One mitten at a time
