Magnetic
Prologue
I ran down the street as fast as I could. I still couldn't get my mind to grasp what was going on, it had all happened so fast. One minute everything was okay, and the next I was bleeding and running down the dark city streets with a broken hand and a deep gash in my leg. A gash that hurt like Hell, and pounded with every step I took, but I couldn't stop.
I couldn't believe I had ever listened to him. I knew from the first day I had meant him that there was something wrong. But I didn't listen to my instincts; I had brushed it off as just nerves. I had so badly wanted this to be perfect. I knew he had liked me for a while, I just hadn't known why. Who knew I had really actually been a target, this whole time?
The cool autumn air felt like ice blades against my skin. Everything felt cold, now that I thought about it. The night seemed to be quieter than usual. All the streetlights I passed seem to flicker and die behind me. The world seemed to be moving in slow motion. My heart pounded in my chest, blood pumping through my veins. My head spun, and my legs burned, but I didn't stop. I couldn't stop. I didn't even look back.
I had to catch myself so I didn't fall when I turned a corner too quickly. I hadn't been paying so much attention that I ran right smack into something, sending me to the ground and my head spinning. I cried out in pain, not being able to stop myself. I had used my bad hand to catch myself. Pain shot up my arm like an electrical shock. Tears of pain and fear began to spill from the corner of my eyes. I rolled onto my side, clutching my broken hand to my stomach. I could feel my entire body trembling.
He grabbed the back of my shirt and dragged me to my feet. I gasped. Not even being gentle with my injuries, he carelessly threw me into the brick wall of the building beside us. He had done it so easily, as if i weighed nothing. But I shouldn't have been surprised; he had shown me how strong he was when he had shattered my bones like they were made of delicate glass.
I screamed again, the pain was so unbearable. He was playing with me, having as much fun hurting me as he could before he finally killed me. He had said it directly to me, whispering his plans on what he was going to do to me so seductively in my ear. He had sounded completely insane. I never should have trusted him. This wasn't the first time I had been hurt like this, I should have known better.
Trevor walked over to my crumpled body lying on the ground at the base of the wall. I was shaking, crying. It was over. My whole life was over, now, as he knelt down beside me. He smiled to me, nothing but love showing in his eyes. But I couldn't believe him, not anymore. It was all fake. He had never liked me, he had never loved me. I still didn't understand why he was doing this, though. Or even what he was.
Using two fingers he lifted my chin so he could see my whole face. He examined me with piercing red eyes. They were so frightening. Like blood red jewels showing you your death. My death…he was going to kill me.
I could feel the coldness inside him radiating off him. It pulsed against my body rhythmically. It was as if it was copying the way his heart would have been beating at that moment, if his had still been beating. But I couldn't ignore how I reacted to it. How my body seemed to pull towards it without moving. It was as if that dark energy called to me. It was as if it were pulling me towards him. Like the north and south sides of a magnet forcing towards each other. That dark energy called to my essence, my soul, wanting to hold it, take it, wrap evil around it and keep it forever. It was magnetic.
A low humming sound began to fill the air. I couldn't tell if it was just me or if it was really there, but Trevor didn't seem to react to it. At least, not until it got louder. The evil smirk he bore on his face slowly changed into confusion. He took a second too look around us at our surroundings, but didn't seem to find anything. He shook it off and grabbed me again, and pulled me to my feet.
He held me tightly around the waist so that I couldn't run away anymore, and to keep me on my feet. If he let go I was sure I'd sink back down to the ground, but it was better than being close to him like this.
He leaned his head down, his lips brushing over my neck, gently kissing me. It sent a shiver down my spine. His embrace felt so warm yet all the rest of him felt frozen. I swallowed hard, knowing this was the final stage in his plan, to take me right now and there. Why wasn't there anyone around? The city looked deserted.
With the hand he wasn't using to hold me too him, he smoothly ran down my side to my waist. I gasped when I felt his ice-cold fingers against the skin on my stomach. I hadn't meant to flinch, but when I did it caused me to push closer to him. He shuddered, as if the feeling gave him too much pleasure. His hand slowly crept up my shirt more and more, and I was helpless.
He pushed me back to the ground at the last minute, and then climbed on top of me, straddling me and pinning my arms down. I turned my head away. I didn't want to look at him, or at what he was doing. But it didn't stop me from feeling any of it, his lips roaming over every visible inch of my skin, his hands un-doing my jeans, lifting my shirt, taking off my clothes then his own.
I dug my finders into the cement ground, wanting to cause myself more pain, to feel anything, anything other then what was happening. But as much as I bled, it didn't stop me from feeling. My shoulder and hand felt numb now, like they weren't even a part of my body anymore, they weren't any help to me. All I could feel was him now and his body against mine.
I didn't quite understand what happened next. I was blinking in and out of consciousness. Done with me, Trevor stood up. My vision was blurry, and all I could see was his tall dark form looming over me. I was pulled back into darkness. When I opened my eyes again it was from a light.
I squinted, trying to tell what it was coming from, but all I could see was a huge ball of light shining brightly in the distance. I was dead, wasn't I? I had to be, why else would I be seeing a light?
Strands of gold and white wisped off of it, dancing in the air around. I could see the silhouette or dark wings against the night. That loud humming noise was even more intense now, it seemed to be radiating off of the glowing figure. No, the figure wasn't glowing, it was holding the light.
The next thing I knew the light exploded out in a huge ray. It was all I caught before passing out again. I woke up momentarily, feeling the soft brush of what felt like feathers around me, and someone's arms, before blacking out for the final time. I felt safe in the arms of whoever it was though. The last thing I remember thinking was, "An Angel saved my life…"
