I walk alone,
through the darkness.
There is nobody here beside me.
No light to guide,
No road to travel,
Only my heart to guide me.

Suddenly it came,
a bright ray of light,
in the form of a person,
of my age.

A person who seemed to be perfect,
an angel sent to help me.
A peaceful and gracious body and soul,
that which I instantly treasured so dear.

Soon my newest friend became my greatest ally,
protecting me from all harm.
Catching me when I fell,
and upholding me when I rose.

As time went on,
our relationship began to change.
My greatest friend became something so much more,
something where love seemed to grow.

And no longer was I in darkness,
but showered in the light.
