Simple Delights

Twinkles of stardust shining in a child's eyes
Rainbows glowing through cotton-bud skies

Laughter in playgrounds and all along the street
Open smiles from strangers you happen to meet

Shimmers of recollection on wizened Elder's face
Of mischievous youth in another time and place

Loving touch of a newborn babe, ever-so delicate
Dewdrops on flowers and in cobwebs, so intricate

Vibrant warm earth scents after fresh summer rain
The magical sounds of nature in her unique refrain

Delirious nights filled with endless romantic starlight
The kiss of the gentlest wind as birds take to flight

Glorious beasts displaying their new spring young
Choral voices in peaceful unity, harmoniously sung

Pleasures of familiar tastes and enjoyable flavor
Things not often thought of, yet they are to savor

Through changes in seasons of life and time
These simple delights make days seem sublime
