Chapter 5
When we had gotten home that night I went to my bed after taking off my elegant dress and changed into some pajamas, got under the covers. Lucius stood in the dark; his red eyes the only thing you could see glowing in the dark. Right when I closed my eyes to go to sleep, Brad and Rose came marching in my room and yelled, "Where have you been!?"
I sat straight up and saw the bat in Brad's hands. "I needed to get out of the house." I replied.
"You're never allowed out of this house!" yelled Rose and Brad came running at me. I quickly scrambled out of bed and went running, not wanting to get hit by the bat. I looked behind me and saw Brad starting to swing his bat and at that time Lucius grabbed me and put me behind him. I heard a crack and pieces of wood fall to the floor.
"You've messed with this young lady for far too long Mr. and Mrs. Stone." Lucius growled.
"Who are you, how did you get in here!?" My so called father exclaimed backing away from Lucius.
"Who I am…that is none of your business, how did I get in here?" He asked walking forward, "I've been living here since before you bought the house. I was the red eyes Valerie would see every night. I was the one who would watch over her while she slept because her parents wouldn't do so."
"There's no way you could have lived here before us…no one had lived here for centuries." Rose whispered.
Lucius turned his head sharply and grinned, "Well Mrs. Stone…I guess you could say you're in the presence of the devil's creation, a vampire."
Brad quickly brought out a cross and held it in front of Lucius and yelled, "Go back to hell where you belong!"
"You've watched too many movies and read too many books. Vampire do not choose to be like this we are made. All the things you thought would kill us is a mere myth." Lucius calmly spoke and walked up to Brad and grabbed hold of him. "You will never harm her again and neither will you Rose."
Rose started to run towards the door, but Lucius threw Brad into her and ran to block the door. "You two aren't leaving here alive."
"Please God…help us," whispered Rose.
"God can't save you now. Not after what you two have done." Lucius growled. I heard screams from Rose and saw her trying to run away and the tall shadow of Lucius loomed over her.
"Valerie! Get your vampire friend away from me!" she screamed.
"Why should I? You were going to beat me to death." I replied calmly.
After I said that I watched as Lucius bend down and violently grabbed a hold of her neck with his teeth and ripped her throat out and blood go everywhere. I watched her slowly die as she tried to gasp for air. Lucius got on his knees and started drinking her blood quickly. I watched intently, seeing her in pain was something I had never seen. Then I looked up and Saw Brad with a piece of the wood that came from the bat.
"Lucius!" I screamed out. Lucius looked at me and then behind him. He saw Brad lunge at him. He quickly got out of the way and grabbed hold of the shard of wood and stuck it through Brad's chest. Brad let out a blood curdling scream. Blood was squirting out from the wound, it was little amounts since the piece of wood was still inside his body, but there was enough blood coming out.
Lucius smiled as he walked over to Brad and grabbed hold of the wood. "Please don't pull it out! Please don't kill me!" Brad cried.
"Too late, you have already chosen your path, and you chose hell has your path. I can kill you for what you have done to your daughter," and with that said Lucius pulled the wood out of Brad and a waterfall of blood came pouring out which Lucius started licking up fast. I sat in the corner waiting for Lucius to come around and when he did he was all covered in blood.
"I think you need to take a shower." I spoke looking at his clothes. He was drenched in blood. He nodded and left the room, I slowly left my corner to see what was done to my parents. When I saw them I couldn't really recognize them they were so brutally slain. I looked down at my father who still had blood running out of his wounds.
Suddenly his eyes opened and I jumped back. I heard his scraggling breath and he rasped, "You're…going…to—
I quickly cut him off and said, "No Brad, you are for all the horrible things you have done."
Then at that moment he let out his last breath and was finally dead. Rose on the other hand had been dead for a few minutes now. Lucius had ripped out her throat which caused her to suffer. I didn't feel happiness or sorrow seeing the bodies in front of me. How they died didn't bother me at all. I had dealt with them for over thirteen years and now I was finally free, I was no long going to be beat by them ever again.
I don't know how long I sat there but when I looked up I saw Lucius dressed in my dad's clothing; I quickly scrambled to my feet to get away from the bodies. Lucius slowly walked over to me and asked, "Are you okay?"
"I'm fine; I'm just trying to grab the fact I don't have to deal with them anymore." I replied staring at the bodies. Lucius walked over to me and bent down to my level and I hugged him tightly and whispered, "Thank you."
Lucius put his arms beneath me and picked me up and cradled me close to his chest. He just stood there holding me close to him and I embraced it. I looked up at him and saw he was looking down at me.
"You would tell me if anything were bothering you right?" He asked softly.
"Of course," I replied.
Lucius was quiet after that, but soon started to leave the room. "You will sleep in your parent's room tonight since your room is unsuitable for you to be in at the moment." Spoke Lucius as he walked down the stairs.
"What are we going to do tomorrow night?" I asked.
"We are going to start searching for a new place to live and we will burn down the house so that no one will be able to come in the house. We can't burry your parents for people would notice and they will go on a missing person's list so the best way is to burn down the house and make it look like an accident." Lucius explained.
When we got to my parents room we saw through the window that the sun was starting to rise. Lucius gently put me down and I closed the curtains and unmade the bed. I watched as Lucius was walking towards the closet. "Lucius…"
"Yes Valerie?" He asked as he turned around.
"You don't have to go in the closet and sleep in there. This is a king sized bed I'm sure you can fit in here." I whispered. I don't know what I was thinking but I didn't want him to feel like he had to sleep in a closet.
"Would it make you feel safer if I did?" he asked.
"Yes actually…even though I know Rose and Brad are dead I always fear they're going to burst through a door." I replied.
Lucius walked over to the bed and got in on the other side. I quickly scooted over to him and he put his arms around me and I closed my eyes. For the first time I felt safe and for the first time I felt like I was going to be able to get a good night's rest.
When I woke up, the sun was going down. I looked at Lucius and saw he was still sleeping. Though I don't know if you would call it sleep because he felt cold as ice, like the dead and he wasn't breathing. But at that moment when I started moving he opened his eyes and let me up.
"How did you sleep?" he asked.
I smiled at him and replied, "It was probably the best sleep I had ever gotten."
Right when I said that we heard a crash in the kitchen. We both jumped out of the bed and went running to find cabinets opened and knives on top of the counters. I felt my heart start racing in my throat when I saw this. "Go upstairs and start packing we are going to leave this place, this instant."
I didn't ask questions, I just did as I was told and by the tone of his voice I knew something was wrong, also seeing knives on the counters and the drawers opened. I guess my parents were too evil to be accepted in hell. When I entered my room I saw their bodies laying there, I quickly walked past them and changed into some casual clothes and grabbed a bag and put my other clothes in. When I saw my black dress I gently folded it into the bag and ran downstairs.
When I came downstairs I saw Lucius with wine and the over turned on. When he saw me he poured the wine on the burners and all over the counters and curtains. The fire started to spread quickly and we ran out of there very fast. Lucius took my bag and carried it as we walked through the streets looking at different places. The small town of Williamsburg in Ohio was a nice town from what I had seen the past few nights when I was out.
We saw a fire engine rush down the roads towards my old house as we continued walking. "What was starting to go on in the house when we woke up?"
Lucius looked down at me and replied, "They were poltergeists, poltergeists usually occur when they have experienced a horrible death such as one I gave them, but if the house burns down completely so will their poltergeist forms and they will go to hell where they will burn continuously."
We came to Christina's store again and when we entered Christina once again greeted us. "So, want some more clothes?" She asked with a grin on her face.
"Actually Christina…could we stay here for a little bit, at least until I find a place for us to stay. I killed Valerie's parents; they became poltergeists so I burned down the house to get rid of them." Lucius replied.
"I have one spare bedroom upstairs if you two don't mind sharing a bed." She replied. She led us upstairs to the bedroom; it was like walking back in time. Lucius sat my bag on the floor and I grabbed my dress out of it and hung it up nicely. "What time will she be going to bed tonight? Just so I know."
"She'll be going to bed the same time I will." Lucius replied.
"I was up all last night and I slept all day today, so I won't be able to go to sleep tonight. Plus I've decided it would be best to stay on Lucius' schedule since he can't come out in the day light."I spoke.
"Actually Valerie, I can go out in the sun, I'm not a fan of it, like a raccoon can be active in the day, though it doesn't like to it can still wonder around in the sun." Lucius corrected me.
"Well I wish one of you told me sooner so I wouldn't look like an idiot like I do now."
"You're fine we don't think you're an idiot. A lot of people think that so you're fine. Actually a lot of the defenses they think works really don't. The only thing that really actually works is stabbing us in the heart and cutting off our heads, now garlic it depends on a vampire. Garlic doesn't affect me much, though it does smell foul I can stand it." He explained.
"Wow, pretty interesting information." I whispered.
Lucius walked behind me and put his hands on my shoulders and said, "I'm going to go out tonight and look around for places for sale."
"Are you going to feed tonight as well?" asked Christina.
"No I am not; I fed enough last night on two people. So my cravings are nonexistent at the moment."
Christina laughed and I looked up at Lucius and said, "I'm coming with you tonight to look for houses."
"It would be best if you stayed here with Christina." Lucius replied.
"But I want my input on the houses you look at." I stated.
"You may want her to go with you because if she doesn't like the house you end up getting you're never going to hear the end of it." Christina said, and it sounded like she had experience in that area.
"Stay close to me." Lucius replied tightening his grip on my shoulders ever so slightly.
"You don't have to tell me twice." I replied backing up to his body. He chuckled a little bit and I felt his chest vibrate when he did so.
We left the store and I climbed onto Lucius' back and he went running fast through many towns, I had no clue if we were going north or south all I knew we were on the move. When he finally stopped I got down on the ground and looked around. "Where are we?"
"Lexington, Kentucky. There's a senator's estate up for sale and I told the realtor that I worked very late and couldn't get off work so I'd have to come after dark. Lucky for me she agreed." He smiled at me when he said that.
We walked down the streets of Lexington and saw the sites. It was nice being in a new area where no one knew you and didn't ask how your parents were. Though I never had that experience down here I knew if I decided to go outside in the day no one would ask me because they didn't know them.
"Here we are." Lucius stated as he came to a stop. I looked at the estate in front of us and my jaw dropped. This was what he wanted to buy. Yup he definitely had my approval of it. It was huge!
Please tell me what you think of it so far. Please R&R!
