Hello! My second (but my first proper one) story on fictionpress!
And as for the question; why the heck is it called "Four Leaf Clover"? Don't ask me... I don't know either. Maybe you'll get the answer sometime through the story... who knows...
Please R & R, if you don't mind! Thanks!
Note:
Just so you know, I'm someone who doesn't know it when switching tenses... And there might be bad grammer. And bad vocabulary. And... if something comes up in the story and it just doesn't work, then just either, 1) Ignore it, or 2) Tell me about it. Thanks again!
Chapter 1 - Quadruple Lives and Its Different Features
Tanakari Taeri walked towards the lone, deserted building where she spends break time, puffing. She had just run away from… herbodyguard.
Taeri has long brown hair and reaches her waist and shining bright green eyes that seems to have a special attractiveness to it.
Taeri looked around to make sure no one's around. It's a low chance, she knew, but the future is always unpredictable. She crept around into the back of the deserted building and sat down peacefully. The view there is what attracts her to this place every day.
Hakuoruka Academy stood on the top of Sakakiya Mountain. Hakuoruka Academy is a rich kids' school, and is the most famous and prestigious school in the current world. Ojousama and Waka from all over the world attends it. Now, in the 21st century, the planet had united into two nations; Riveria and Lorriac. The capital city of Lorriac is called "Japan", and is pretty similar to the Japan we know today, in our world. Hakuoruka Academy stood right on the border between the two nations. This academy always stays neutral in regards to problems between the two countries; it was run by both Lorrishs and Riverians alike.
Many royals from both countries also attend Hakuoruka Academy. Because of that, there exists the RoyalClass. The Royal Class is separated into a different building, but there is one corridor that leads to each of the other normal sections. The Royal Class's building has tight security and anyone who is not a student will rarely be allowed inside, unless given permission from one of the higher royals or the principal. On the other hand, with the exception of a couple of people, the royals rarely leave their school building. Presently, there are only two of those exceptions; Prince Lewis Kotarou Lorriac and Melanie Sayuki Lorriac, whom of both are student presidents of their respective sections.
Because of the existence of the Royal Class, another class was born from its influence; the RoyalServersClass. Because the security in the Royal Class is super tight, the royals inside do not need to be protected by their bodyguards. There are also on-site servants, and thus the royals do not need to bring personal maids or butlers into school either. During this time, the bodyguards spend the free time with extra training. The Royal Servers Class can be separated into sub-classes such as; the Maid Class, the Butlers Class, and the Bodyguard Class. Please note that receiving classes are optional.
Another class, or correctly, two classes, was also created because of the influence of the existence of the Royal Class; TheNobleClass and the NobleServersClass, which is almost identical to the RoyalClassand RoyalServersClass, except smaller, less strict, security a bit looser, etc.
Sometimes people lead a double life where they had to hide their identities from each other. But Taeri is a bit different. She leads a quadruple life. She's the 2nd Princess of Lorriac, as well as a lead singer in a famous girl band called TopG, a lonely and geeky 2nd year junior high student at Hakuoruka Academy, and a mysterious, anonymous and famous mangaka. She has to hide everything from each other, especially her princess identity.
"Tanakari Taeri" is her name at school, "Melody Sakura Harmony Lorriac" is her real name, "Taeriya Yume" is her band name, and "T. Taerura" is the pen name she uses for her manga. By now she has gotten used to the 3 names and has remembered everything.
Tanakari Taeri is a geeky and lonely girl. She likes to study and likes computers. She wears thick round glasses and ties her hair messily into two big plaits. She also has two small long bangs that go down to her waist. As far as everyone knows, she has no friends.
Melody Sakura Harmony Lorriac was believed to be one of the most beautiful girl in Lorriac. But not many have seen her appearance. For 8 years now, the princess has never appeared in public. Since she was 6 years old. The princess no longer comes outside to show herself. Rumours has it that she's a polite, beautiful, cute and elegant, and a perfect princess in any and everyway. She has a big brother, who is the Prince and heir to the Throne; Lewis Kotarou Florence Lorriac, and an older sister; Melanie Sayuki Helena Lorriac. Her father is the King of Lorriac; Alistaro Hizuki Peter Lorriac, and the Queen; Iris Mirano Lavender Lorriac. Melody Sakura Harmony Lorriac usually keep her hair down but tie up a bit of it loosely at the back, and plait her bangs. Her silver tiara gives a nice touch.
Taeriya Yume is a bright, cheerful and determined girl. She has an amazing voice and can tune to ear. She plays the lead guitar as well as lead singing in TopG. Her band mates doesn't know much about her except her hobbies and personality, but they don't mind much. They set their current goal to be the Budokun. Yume has most of her hair down. She tied a plait under her ear into the front and a middle-ranged pigtail from the side. Her bangs are still there.
T. Taerura is a famous shoujo mangaka in shoujo magazines. Even though she specializes in shoujo manga, her shonen works are also very popular. Her works are mostly comedy romance and will usually have a fantasy theme to them. Her stories are usually filled with lots of short comedy bits and has a lot of dialog. None of the staff has met T. Taerura-sensei. Even her editor only meets her from time to time as well. Almost everything is communicated by email, text, phone calls and fax. Her disguise consists of a high ponytail and square glasses.
Taeri sat down leaning against the building and got out her sketchpad. She loves drawing. Manga is her life. So is music. She has too many things to do. Study exams, royal businesses, music gigs, and manga deadlines. She was more busy than what other people might think. That was also why being a geek at school is the best choice. People avoid her and don't ask questions that will be dangerous to the balanced life that she currently has.
Starting to get new ideas for the next chapter, Taeri wrote them all down onto a piece of paper and slot it into her Manga Work Folder. She looked at her watch. She has 20 minutes left until the bell rings. Taeri got out her bento and started eating quickly, but still gracefully. After finishing she headed to her locker.
Taeri got out all the books she needed for the next 2 periods and then shut the locker door, which closed with a slight bang. She looked around cautiously then started running towards the next classroom. Then she bumped into someone.
Taeri looked up nervously. She blinked innocently up at the person she bumped into. The person was a boy. He has black hair and dark blue eyes.
'Heh heh heh... Takao… I mean, Yamaki-kun! I… didn't see you there…' she began.
He then suddenly pulled her out of the walkway and into another room. 'Princess! Where did you disappear to? Me and Masuto-niichan were worried, you know?' he complained.
'I'm sorry, Takao. But don't worry about me. I can look after myself,' she replied cheerfully.
'We know that, but we're your bodyguards. We can not let you out of our sight,' he responded.
'Yes, yes, I know,' Taeri sighed. 'And don't let yourself get seen hanging around with me, "popular guy". I'm the geek, you know. And apparently, I do witchcraft,' she laughed lightly.
Takao twitched at the word "popular guy". 'P… Princess…' he began.
But Taeri interrupted him. 'Nuh-uh, Takao. See you in class,' and with that, she ran off, and away from the conversation. Takao had no choice but to just looked after her go in dismay.
oOo
Class was starting. Everyone piled into the classroom at the last minute. The "geek", Tanakari Taeri was already sitting at her seat. Takao walked into the room. He shot a meaningful look at Taeri quickly. She pretended to not noticed. Takao's seat was quite far from Taeri's. And so he couldn't contact her in any secretive way possible. The Mathematics teacher, Yamada Masuto then walked into the room. In reality, he was Takao's bigger brother and is one of two of Princess Melody's bodyguards. For safekeeping, he's a teacher at her school.
He started the lesson of with light algebra allowed by geometry and then arithmetic. It was all simply too easy for Taeri. Then halfway through the lesson, he stopped teaching. 'Oh, I've almost forgotten! Tomorrow, there'll be a new transfer student joining our class. Just so you know, don't be mean to the new student and welcome the person with friendly smiles, students!' he announced cheerfully.
Half the class sweat dropped.
'It's so like Yamada-sensei to be so happy about everything, huh?' whispered one student.
'Um… Yamada-sensei, is it a girl or a boy?' asked a peppy and cheerful girl, Uohara Yumiko. She has medium-long black hair, a box fringe and bright blue eyes.
'It's a secret!' he answered with a wink.
The class erupted.
'Why not!'
'Uh, sensei, you're so evil!'
'Come on, tell us!'
After the class had settled down, Yamada Masuto went back to teaching maths. Taeri was quite interested in this news. What would this new transfer student be like? she wondered.
Taeri put the stuff she doesn't need back into her locker. Then she set off for home; the Grand Palace of Lorriac. Hakuoruka Academy also has dormitories attached to it, for people whose homes are faraway. But since the academy is not necessary a boarding school, there is no obligation to stay in the dormitories. But Taeri, as the precious princess of Lorriac, has an obligation to go home every single day.
Taeri walked out of the school gate and took the most quietest path - a secluded path that cuts off into the woods. Taeri made sure no one saw her and then ran off onto the path. She kept going for about 300 m, and reached a clearing. A chair and table was already there. Taeri sat down and waited.
A while later Takao came running up the same path that Taeri had just took. He's been running as fast as he could, but he wasn't as half tired.
'Princess Melody! I'm very sorry. They wouldn't leave me alone. I tried to shake them off, but they really stick!' he explained quickly.
'No problem, Takao. I don't mind. I also have band practice today,' she told him brightly.
He nodded. 'Alright. I'll tell Oniisan when he gets here. I'll see you there… Oh, and you have your Blinker with you?' he asked, just to make sure.
Taeri, who is now dressed as Yume nodded. 'Yep, I sure do!'
The Blinker is a communication device. It sends text messages, voice messages, as well as serving as an emergency alarm. There's a special button on it, that when pressed, will send an emergency signal to selected Blinkers - in this case, Takao's and Masuto's.
Taeri was now wearing a blue and white striped shouldered-sleeve shirt, a black vest, a navy blue two-pleat pleated skirt and white legwarmers. This is her TopG uniform as lead singer and Taeriya Yume. TopG has two symbols; blue and white stripes and the black vest. Everyone in the band wears something that has blue and white stripes and a black vest, but other clothes all depends on the individuals' tastes.
Yume has tied a bit of her hair under her right ear as a plait and a half ponytail at the back. Her bangs were still kept the same, though.
Takao nodded approvingly at this. 'I prefer you in TopG than at school, your highness,' he thought aloud.
'Huh? Why's that?' wondered Yume.
'Well, as Taeriya Yume, I get you see your beautiful green eyes,' he said subconsciously.
'Oh, is that so?' Yume asked cheekily.
Something snapped in Takao's mind. 'W… What did you just made me say?' he exclaimed. 'W… what did I say?' he then asked.
'You don't even remember, Takao?' she wondered.
He shakes his head in reply.
Yume giggled. 'Well, see you later then. I'm off to band practice!' she said cheerfully, running off.
'Aah! You can't do this to me again, princess!' he protested, running after her.
Yume looked at Takao inquiringly.
He looked back at her. 'What?' he asked, rather rudely. 'I'm suppose to escort you to band practice,' he added.
'Oh, so is that it?' she asked.
'Don't pretend you didn't know!' he exclaimed.
Yume just laughed in reply.
'Tsk…'
Yume opened the door to the room enthusiastically. 'Hello, everyone!' she exclaimed happily.
'Ah, Yume, hey!' greeted Hakeyama Shiori just as happily. Shiori is the band's 2nd guitar. She's 14 years old, the same age as Yume. She wears a shirt with elastic-ended cuffs and belt, a two-pleat pleated skirt like Yume's, a glass necklace and the Signature Black Vest. She has her light brown hair tied into two ponytails with blue and white ribbons. Shiori also has two short bangs.
'Good evening,' greeted Takawata Mayuri. Mayuri is the bass guitar, 15 years old. Mayuri wears a buttoned up white short sleeved t-shirt, blue and white striped short tie, shorts and long blue and white striped socks with string cloth attached, and the signature Black Vest of TopG. She has long black hair, two long bangs and a box fringe that parted in the middle.
'Yo!' shouted Kowatari Ayoko, a girl who has orangy-brown short scruffy hair and a straight fringe and parted curvy in the middle. Ayoko is 15 years old and the drummer of TopG. She wears a medium-long-sleeve shirt that folds up with blue and white stripes, a loose tie, the Black Vest and shorts.
'Now that Yume's here, should we start?' asked Oyawaki Itsuka, the keyboard player of TopG, and the youngest in the group - 13 years old. Itsuka is the stereotypic Ojousama. She wears a similar shirt to Shiori except with a big bowtie and a bow stuck in her hair, a pleated skirt and high white socks. Her wristbands were blue and white striped. She ties her two big bangs at the top, and she has blonde hair and light blue eyes. Itsuka is also half English.
Misakato Saki, who is the manager, greeted Yume contently. 'Ah, Yume~ You're here~' greeted a girl with medium-length brown hair with a straight fringe. Her fringe is clipped up on the left side - with two blue and white striped clips. She wore a collared t-shirt, the vest and a skirt. Saki was also holding a clipboard in the hands.
'Hey, everyone, let's start. What song are we playing today?' Yume asked brightly.
'We're going to practice the songs that we're going to play at the School Festival this year - This includes Change, Unquestionable Answer, Dreams In Reach and Dokidoki to Heart. And you say you'll make it, Yume?' explained Saki.
Everyone in TopG attends Hakuoruka Academy. It's just that the others in the band doesn't know that Yume goes there as well.
Yume nodded in reply. 'I'm pretty sure I can make it, right, Takao-kuun?' wondered Yume aloud menacingly and meaningfully.
Takao, who was standing by the door shivered. Yume glared at him. 'Eh…Um… Yes, of course. I'll work it out for you, Yume-chan,' he answered.
'Aah… aren't you lucky, Yume, to have the famousandsuper-popularYamaki Takao-kun as your cousin, not to mention that he follows you everywhere!' exclaimed Shiori.
'He might as well be popular at Hakuoruka, but he surely isn't in my eyes. And I don't know what people thinks of him in Hakuoruka either, so I don't really care,' responded Yume in a who-cares manner. 'Really, I'm sick of him always staying around me,' she added.
'Hey, I can hear you, you know!' he Takao exclaimed.
'Heh heh heh…' laughed Yume.
Takao sighed. She's certainly got used to changing her personalities when leading different lives, he thought.
The band started to practicing. They spent over 2 hours doing a run-through of the School Festival. After that, they packed up all the instruments, and sat down to talk while drinking tea. Takao was also asked to joined them for the usual tea time.
'Today's tea consists of Chocolate chip cookies,' announced Saki.
'Thanks for preparing this every time, Saki,' said Shiori.
'That's right!' agreed Ayoko and Yume.
'Now, you guys, about the contract with SparkTech, what do you say?' asked Saki. SparkTech is a famous company that produces the top superstars and albums, as well as all the popular medias. SparkTech has contacted TopG if they would do a contract with them and launch an album.
Everyone agreed on it immediately.
Yume was quiet. 'Um… well, you see… I'll have to ask my parents and other people first…' she began.
'That's the wise and correct choice, Yume-chan. If you do it without permission, things could get ugly,' chip in Takao.
'Well, I hope that you can, Yume. We can't do with a lead singer. Actually, if you don't accept, none of us will either,' said Saki.
Everyone was now used to the mysterious conversations passed between Yume and Takao.
The shiny black limousine came to a stop around 100m away from the Practice Place.
'You really want King Alistaro to accept your request, don't you, your highness?' asked Takao.
'Of course, Takao. I can't let down everyone else. He must accept…' she said, looking serious.
'I understand,' he replied.
The limousine drove on until it reached the Grand Palace of Lorriac's Main Gate. It was stopped by the Palace Guards, then finally let through after a thorough check up.
Princess Melody Sakura Harmony Lorriac entered the dining hall gracefully.
'Sakura, you're here,' exclaimed Princess Melanie Sayuki Helena Lorriac happily. 'Good evening, Sayuki-neesama,' she greeted, smiling. Greetings were passed through and across the dining hall.
After the dinner, Melody approached King Alistaro.
'Otousama. I have something to ask you. I know I've been really selfish about keeping my identity secret and playing in the band and all, but there's something… TopG, the band I'm in, has been asked by SparkTech to sign a contract and launch an album. Is it okay if I agree and do the contract, Otousama?' she explained. 'I'll make sure my identity is kept secret,' she added.
The King thought about it for a long while. Then he nodded, very slowly. 'Please be careful though, Princess Melody,' he told her.
She nodded, 'Yes, Otousama.'
Princess Melody then left the room with a content look on her face.
'Aah! I'm so glad!' Melody happily sighed as she fell onto her huge bed. Takao was sitting on the left side of the bed while Masuto was on the right side.
'That's good to hear, Princess Sakura,' said Takao.
Personally, the princess preferred to be called her Japanese name, "Sakura", out of all the three names she has.
'Yes, it is. But I still wish I could protect and follow you everywhere like Takao-kun though!' Masuto protested like a child.
'That won't do, brother. You're a teacher, unlike me. If the school finds out, it won't be pretty,' responded Takao a-matter-of-factly.
'Aaah, I wish I could lied about my age and attend as a student…' he sighed dejectedly.
Takao looked at him hard. 'Brother, you're too old for that. If you could, they'd only believe you if you go in as a Senior High or College student, but if it's like that, then there's absolutely no point in attending the academy if you can't be near Princess Sakura,' Takao told his brother. 'And you already know that,' he added.
'Yes… of course…' he replied.
'Takao, Masuto. I'm tired,' Princess Melody Sakura chip in.
'Yes, of course, Princess. We have school tomorrow, we should go to bed early,' said Takao.
'And I have school tomorrow as well,' Masuto added playfully.
'Of course, brother,' Takao replied.
Masuto clicked his fingers, giving orders for the lights to turned off.
Princess Melody woke up. She yawned, then put her hands in front of her mouth. It's good manners. She must maintain her royal manners while being Princess Melody.
Takao approached the princess's bed. He lifted up the blanket on her bed that she was using. 'It's morning, Princess Sakura!' he exclaimed cheerfully.
'Hey, don't lift the blankets up like that without warning!' she exclaimed, forgetting how she has to use polite speech while she's at home at all times.
Takao's face turned bright red at the scene he came face to face with. Then he automatically put the blanket back down into its place.
'Takao, that wasn't a very prudent action. You knew that I'm a person who tosses-and-turns in my sleep, and you knew that I was wearing a nightgown today! Think before you act, will ya!' she shouted at him. 'Ah! Will you… Takao?' she corrected herself. She tried to refrain herself from slapping him,.
'Um… give forgive me, p… Princess Sakura,' he stuttered nervously.
Princess Sakura got up from the bed slowly, making sure that her clothes were all on properly. She glared at Takao when she walked pass him. He gulped nervously. He was kind of glad that there were only him and the princess in the room - Masuto had already set off because he had a teacher meeting. That'd have been big trouble if the princess told someone about what had just happened.
'Takao, I'm having a shower. Please get my clothes ready for me,' she instructed him from the bathroom.
'Roger that,' he replied, setting of to ask the maids to prepare the clothes, then he was going to being it to the princess.
Princess Melody Sakura Harmony Lorriac doesn't like servants - and so all in one, she only has her bodyguards by her side and in her room, as well as a couple of maids around and about.
