chess, like love,
is a game for two.
your partner is every bit as clever as you,
as cunning and bright,
but they have the upper hand
because they have your attention.
when you're distracted,
you make mistakes.
you slip, they move, you lose.
that's chess
and that's love.
but chess, like love,
is a game for two
and if one doesn't play,
none can play
and you both lose.
