Prologue
Hi! This is my first story I have written! I will post more chapters soon but first I want to know if you readers like my story, so please review! :)
It was pitch dark. Nothing moved. No signs of life. The wind howled softly.
The moon was blocked out by the trees. Nothing crossed the path
As if on cue, two figures appeared. They were dragging a heavy metal cage. The cage made a scraping sound on the forest floor.
Inside the cage were, two spirits glowing faintly.
'Where are you taking us?' The spirits croaked.
'No talking.' A gruff voice replied.
Fallen leaves rustled on the ground. They continued walking until they reached a huge cave covered with wet moss and twigs.
The two figures chanted a few ancient words to the cave. The cave opened. They entered with the cage. Inside the cave was a huge coffin painted gold.
The figures walked towards the coffin dragging the cage along. The figures got onto their knees and chanted a series of ancient words.
'WELL DONE MY MINIONS!' a voice boomed. The spirits trembled with fear.
'FEDE AND SEPERE!' it spat the word out.
The spirits flinched. Suddenly, the two spirits crumpled to the base of the cage howling in pain.
'What –are- you- doing?' The spirits croaked.
'DRAINING YOUR LIFE FORCE!' the voice boomed.
'Stop….. please' Fede pleaded weakly.
'STOP? YOU WANT ME TO STOP! IT HAS ONLY JUST BEGUN FEDE!' the voice cackled evilly.
The minions erupted into mean laughter as well. 'QUIET!' it boomed. All at once they stopped. The silence was unbearable.
'You- can't - win!' Sepere cried weakly before closing its eyes for the last time and lying limply on the cage.
The last sound they could hear was the voice laughing evilly.
Chapter 1: The meeting of the council of four elements.
Sent from the surface, Mare sat impatiently in the council meeting room. The council was late.
Mare blew her black hair out of her eyes. It had been a very long time since she was allowed into the underwater sea place.
The council had never called her unless something terrible had happen and they needed her involved. She sat in one of the many chairs in the room.
The reason why she had not been here for a long time was entirely her choice. She wanted to explore the outer world.
She remembered the heated argument between her mum and dad. Then , they just died, leaving her brother to the throne. She was free!
She remembered her brothers cold last words.
'You can leave but if you ever return you will not be welcomed.' He had said.
She was wearing the council emerald green cape with a hood covering her head. She sighed deeply. She had not missed this place.
She was admiring the sea green walls for the tenth time when suddenly the door burst open and eight figures wearing green capes glided in.
Mare stood up to greet the council before sitting again. When everyone was seated, one of them stood up before removing his hood.
'Hespira….' Mare thought.
'Welcome back council.' He greeted politely.
'Mare... Welcome back' He greeted.
Mare frowned.
'As you all know the spirits Fede and Sepere were taken' He started.
He gestured towards the woman seated beside Mare.
'Valona.' He said.
She stood and removed her hood. Valona had red eyes with blonde hair. She looked rather scary but she was not that tall.
Valona nodded towards Hespira.
'Fede and Sepere were kidnapped. You all very well know that Fede and Sepere keep us alive and hoping. As i foresee, heroes will rescue them and bring them
back, hopefully before we suffer. Unfortunately these heroes are….Maquacies. She said with disgust her eyes like steel.
She received several gasps from the crowd.
Maquacies were very powerful spirits. Normally spirits only belong to one element, water, earth, fire or wind. Maquaci is a combination of both.
A Maquaci is very rare as they can only be created when two spirits from different elements mate, to do this the spirit will have to go against their element for it is
forbidden to lie with another spirit from another element.
The parent of a Maquaci are a disgrace to all elements and are banished immediately if discovered.
'The upper council will meet tommorow to have a talk with the chosen ones. Goodbye, have a nice day.' Valona announced.
The members stood up and floated out in a single file.
'Mare. we need to speak to you for a while.' Valona and Hespira said.
'Of course.' Mare said calmly. Normally, the council will adress Hespira as your grace but because Mare and Valona are his sisters, he gave an exception.
'Are your children Maquacies?' Hespira asked, looking a little furious as he sat down on one of the plush chairs in the room.
'I-I don't know what you're talking about.' Mare stuttered, her head down.
'You are one of the royal family, how could you do that? Mum would be furious!' Valona yelled.
'I should question myself before i question others Valona.' Mare said angrily, glaring at her sister. Her sister glared back, but you could feel her crack.
'I did it for a purpose! ' She defended.
'Valona...' Hespira said, clearly shocked.
'My child is one of the chosen ones, and unfortunately, so are Mare's.' She said bitterly.
'We'll talk about this later. How many maquacies are there for this quest?' He asked valona.
' Six, but only four is within our reach.' She answered. Even though Valona was his sister, she never stopped admiring her for her talent of seeing the future and
past. Only you could shape your own destiny, so Valona is only able to predict.
'I tried to see how this would end, but strong magic is blocking that.' She said. She looked drained and tired. She spent all night trying.
'Who are they? Their names?' Hespira asked.
'Marisa, Nave, Raios, Tierra.' She said.
'Marisa and Nave belong to Mare, Raios belongs to me. Tierra is an orphan, we can easily bring her here.' Valona said. Mare turned pale.
'When?' She said weakly.
'Tomorrow, the encounter must be tomorrow. You better bring your children here Mare, or we will find you.' Hespira said, narrowing his eyes at Mare.
'Goodbye, sister.' Hespira and Valona said as they put their hood on before leaving the room together.
Mare sighed a long deep sigh. Her plan to hide her children had not worked. She'll have to tell them tomorrow.
She did not regret , she will never regret. It was the last promise she had made to him. She clasped her necklace and fat tears fell from her eyes silently.
That little mistake that claimed his life. She felt bad that Maris and Nave did not have a father. She will make it up to them.
Tomorrow, yes, tomorrow.
