Chapter 6

It seemed like I was going to have a relaxing few days on the island, but instead Evelyn russled me into sewing new clothes for her, and mending her old ones. Not that I minded, but I was hoping to spend more time with William (Ever since we had let people know about our engagement I had started calling him William, he didn't seem to mind).

Thankfully the day soon dawned when we were due to return to Solomon and William's father.

I stood by my small closet packing my few dresses into my bag. After I was done, I took the bag outside and down to the port where William was waiting.

'Good morning William,' I said.

'Good morning Amber,' he replied and gave me a quick peck on the lips.

I walked up the gangplank and delivered my bag to my quarters. William followed me onboard and instructed to crew to set sail as soon as the tide turned.

It did not take long before we were out at sea once more. It took me a while to get my sea-legs back and then I was hurrying around the deck, lending a hand wherever I could because we only had half the amount of crew as the first voyage.

We were at sea for around two weeks before the shores of Solomon came into view.

'Land ho,' came the cry from the crow's nest, and everyone raced to the side of the ship to see.

'Home,' I cried, and then, to William 'when do you expect we will dock?'

'Later today, hopefully.' He replied.

So for the rest of that day I packed my few belongings into my bag and organized William's things too.

It was around six o'clock pm when we docked in the harbour and began the walk up to the castle. And it was nearly seven by the time we reached the castle doors.

We pushed them open and hurried through the many corridors until we arrived at the King's quarters.

'Father?' called William as he knocked sharply on the door.

It flew open and King George stood there in his magnificent robes.

'William, you have returned!' he cried and flung his arms around him. Then he saw me 'And who is this young lady?' he asked.

'This is Amber Yarlow, the seamstress you requested to join me, and now will soon be my wife. Father I have asked Miss Yarlow to marry me, and we have returned to Solomon to get yours and her families consent. If you give it to us, we will send for Evelyn and the rest of the crew on my island, and we will hold the wedding as soon as they arrive.'

'Wonderful!' cried the King 'Let us to Miss Yarlow's home and ask her parents' permission right now.' And he strode out of his chambers and straight out of the castle, with William and I hurrying behind.
